Hi I would like if someone could let me know if I can rome off of at&t? I am trying out T-Mobile and in the area my father lives the phone comes up only sos and I can see a at&t tower form his houes. I have tried going though the phone and when it scans for service it comes up the same thing. I have a bold 9700 thanx.

Yes you can roam but it depends on where you are and the roaming agreements in place. If you can roam, it will do so automatically. You can't force it.

Default UMA - the other "roaming"

This is slightly off-topic, but does your father's house have Wi-Fi that you can access from your phone? The 9700 and xx20 BlackBerry phones can switch over from the cell network to UMA over Wi-Fi. It won't do you much good in the backyard but you'll have T-Mobile service inside the house.

Only if the 9700 is T-Mobile Branded, if it is a AT&T Branded phone it'll take some work to get it running.
