| | T-Mobile Roaming Areas
I want to cancel my T-Mobile account but they still wanna charge $200. So instead I want to find places in Los Angeles were my phone will roam and charge T-Mobile for it and that way they will cancel my account free of charge. Does Anyone know of any areas. I tried to look at the coverage map but don't understand exactly were the areas are. If anyone can please I would appreciate it.

Why do you want to cancel? And more importantly, why do you feel you should not have to pay the ETF?

Verizon i get 3G speeds. Because i would need to cancel 2 lines that comes out to $400 dollars and maybe not to u but to some people thats a lot of money after all these years of being a customer not even a lowering. So instead of arguin id rather roam and let them cancel it free for me.

How long have you had tmobile? If it only bee about a month or so and you don't have any service at home then you might get away with it. Anything longer than that and your probably stuck with it as they give you 14 days to try it.

Good luck with that. First of all, LA is saturated with T-Mobile 3G. Second, over HALF your usage has to be on ATT (roaming network) for them to be mad at you. Are you going to spend your time, talking/using data in god knows where just so you can roam. Third, the "excessive roaming" usually has to go on for a couple months before they notice. Other members here who have done this can attest to that. it will take time.
I would just pay the ETF and leave.

The issue at hand is that you've been a customer for years, so this cannot be a new development. Being a long time customer gets you discounts on phones when you stay a customer, not discounts on fees when you leave. It makes no sense for a company to discount your termination fees based upon tenure. The amount goes down to $100 per line once your remaining contract time hits 6 months. Not sure how far off that is, but that might be another option. As mentioned above, you are given 14 days to try it. If it wasn't what you had hoped, you could have canceled the contract within that time. After that time is up, you're on the hook for two years, or two ETFs.

Get a phone better than the 8900. It has some serious signal (SOS) problems, and it's not even 3G so why mention 3G?
You're not going to roam in Los Angeles. T-Mobile won't allow it. Tons of people have T-Mobile in Los Angeles and for good reason, great coverage.
Why do you have Verizon AND T-Mobile if you're so cash strapped?
just don't pay the bill. You know you don't want to, it's just another collection.

Good point. I loved my 8900 but as I recall, I had a lot of SOS displays going on. I have none on my Bold now unless I'm REALLY out in the country or something.
If you're in LA and you have T-Mobile, there is no reason for you to have crummy signal. There may be something wrong with your phone. Have you had it exchanged for another to see if that solves your problem?

If you technically don't have signal and we can verify it, then you can get out of your ETF. But if you're in Los Angeles, I highly doubt that unless you live in between two mountains haha.

I've worked in all areas of Los Angeles and I always have great signal.
If the OP did find a dead area, he would probably spend money on gas driving
there then he would if he'd just pay the ETF.
What it boils down to is if switching to Verizon to use the Droid is worth the
ETF.

(constantly losing signal and going to SOS).
How do I go about proving this to T-mob? and what do they consider poor enough coverage?
TIA

Well we have to be able to confirm it on our end. Meaning, if we bring up your home address, does it actually show you have little to no coverage? On our end, it has to show no coverage, roaming coverage, or "moderate." If that's the case, then you'd have to either fax or take in to any retail store a utility bill with your name and address on it. This is just to verify that you actually live there. Hopefully this helps you out. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
