Default T-Mobile Phone Trade-in Program Question

I am up for a upgrade discount and is looking at the new 9700.

Just spoke to customer service on the phone regarding an upgrade (no stores near me), the rep and her supervisor both told me the $50/$75 trade-in rebate is only available if the phone is purchased or upgraded at a "store". I would not qualify for the rebate if I renew/upgrade over the phone or internet.

This makes no sense to me, is this true?

it could possible be true. i cant imagine they would choose to misinform you. some rebates are oriented around mailing in and what not and in store exchange. in this case it may purtain to the device your using to trade in needs to be taking in store. if ordered over the phone that may not want to be liable for the trade in not making it and them crediting your the trade in cost. thats my only sensable thought.

Haha... again, Customer service is wrong. You can get the rebate form online. Flip Your Phone Rebate

Well I guess Customer Service is "partly right"...

Under #2 of the rules, it states: "Buy and activate a BlackBerry device with T-Mobile - either online or at any retail location (offer not available through customer care)"

So the deal is eligible online but still not through phone lines with customer care.

So it's either retail store at $200 or call up loyalty program and get it for no more than $125 then.

For whatever it's worth, we ordered 2-9700s and 1-8900 and used the Trade-in on each of them. I just checked the status online and two have been processed, while the third hasn't yet. The point? I ordered all three through customer service on the phone.

BTW - we sent in three ooooold phones ($50 each coming back) and then sold the 8310, 8320 and sidekick 2008 on eBay for a total of $370. So we are getting $520 back on phones we spent $525 on. Not bad.
