Default T-Mobile free trackball replacement program

The free trackball replacement program for certain BlackBerry phones that was supposed to kick off yesterday/today is now put off to Feburary 24th.

T-Mobile BlackBerry Pearl 8100, 8120 and BlackBerry Curve 8320 owners can walk into the nearest T-Mobile shop and get the trackball replaced for free. Your phone must have been purchased from T-Mobile.

Looks like T-Mobile is not including the Flip into its trackball replacement program. Cowards! Unlike the 81xx and 83xx, the trackball ring on a 8220 is an integral part of the keyboard. Replacing a Flip trackball requires complete phone disassembly.

No, because it would require disassembly of the phone, similar to the 8220 mentioned above. The only models this would apply to would be the 83XX and 81XX because the trackballs can be removed easily.

I have an old 8100 with a busted trackball. It is not currently activated, as I purchased a 9700.

I am thinking of giving the 8100 to my girlfriend to use until she upgrades her line.

Will they be willing to replace the ball on a phone that isn't active? Should I maybe put her SIM into the 8100 before trying to get it replaced? I did originally purchase the phone from TMO.

Thanks!
MORRY

Question, I have an 8320...my trackball works perfectly fine and is alert however the light on ball is dim. When I first got it, it use to be a bright white light but now its a dim low light. Can they replace it based on this?

Also is there any catch? Such as paying $$ or extending the contract?

And I bought mine from T-Mobile 2 years ago but how do prove it? Sorry many questions I know

Depends on what is causing the problem. The lights for the trackball are on the main board, so the trackball itself may not even be the culprit. It could just be a dirty trackball as well.

This program has not made it to my store yet, so I don't know all the details. I would assume the replacements can only be done for phones that are under manufacturer's warranty or have the PHP extended warranty.
