Default T-Mobile, Blackberry's & Data Connections Timeouts

I've been having an ongoing issue with Blackberrys and t-mobile here in Miami (I think it still happens when I'm traveling too). My data connection is terribly unreliable, whether it be on EDGE (with my 8820), 3G with my new 9700, or even with wi-fi.

Let's start with a phone battery pull... more often than not the connection will be active after the reboot and I can do a few things - maybe load a couple of pages online. BUT, eventually the data connection will just do nothing. Everything will timeout, even though the phone is still telling men I have a data connection to EDGE, wifi or 3G. It may, after 5+ minutes, come on again, but more often than not I need to battery pull to get it moving again. But, I can still make calls when the data connections is out.

I can have 1 bar or 5 bars - it still happens. I've called T-moble about it and they said they'd do a "service request", which apparently means that they come out and check the signal and data connection... which they say turned up nothing, but I find that hard to believe given that a few people seem to be consistently having this issue with different devices.

Does anyone else have this problem - and where are you? I'm in Miami and a few of the people I know here are having this problem with T-mobile (different blackberry versions).

Has anyone suffered this issue and then jumped to a different network... did that solve the problem?

Thanks.

I am in Northern VA with a similar issue. I could have 4-5 bars of 3G and it still chokes. I'll give TMO the benefit of the doubt, give it another day or so and see how it goes.

I've been having this issue for months, and probably 1-2 years. I never minded so much because the 8820 was EDGE only and I figured that was pretty much a write-off, but now that the same thing is happening on 3G with a newer phone, I think it's a much more serious underlying issue with their network.

Yes, I am in NYC and having some of the same problems on my perl, the apps I typically use have been giving me connection errors, this has been going on for about a week now..

Wondering if I should make the 9700 investment with t-mo or head over to a different network... ?

Same problems in Miami/Broward. Glad to see it's not just me. I confirmed I was on 3G by sending myself email when on the phone just to be sure. Phone keeps dropping calls and data service is terrible. Using a 9700.

I thought the connection issues were normal and really resulted from my old 8320.

I was thinking of re-opening my line because I really really want the 9700.
