T-Mobile 8900 or Bold?

Hey crackberry nation! I have been searching for days to try and figure out what I should do and I'm still on the fence about it. Anyways I've come to you guys...I've been offered a brand new bold for my brand new 8900 and since I've always wanted one I'm really considering it. So my question is, is it worth trading my 8900 for the bold when ill be using it on tmobile? Is the only thing better about the bold the 3g?

I think T-mobile's 3G runs on different frequency than AT&T. So if you want 3G stick with the 8900

I don't believe the 8900 has 3G capability. But I did read somewhere that the 8900 is capable of using more of the EDGE bandwidth than previous EDGE BBs and that it is not noticeably slower than the Bold on 3G.

The 8900 uses EDGE which will give you up to 384Kbps download. This is much slower than the Bold's 3g capability of between 2 and 14.4 Mbps. When moving in a car, the likely max speed of 3g is still 384Kbps (same as EDGE.

3G has very spotty reception unless you live and work in an urban area that's well covered by 3G. 3G is also a big battery drainer and whilst the Bold is a fine, fine phone, the 8900 is quite simply the most reliable device made by RIM today.

I have had both devices and I very quickly ditched the big and heavy Bold for the easier on the pocket 8900.

You might want to search for all the threads that say Bold vs 8900, 9000 vs 8900, Bold vs Curve II, Bold vs Javelin, etc, etc, etc,....

Major difference... and I'm not going to say which one has the advantage since it is rather one sided.... 3G, processor speed, memory size, camera resolution, screen resolution, Wi-Fi and size.

There are many MANY threads on this very topic. To keep it short, if you are staying with T-mobile then it is going to be a big downgrade to go with the Bold due to all the features you will lose in doing so.

This is a no brainer. The bold is a flagship blackberry phone, the 8900 is somewhere in the middle of the field. Unless u prefer the 8900 form factor, take that bold and run...

I went with the Bold because 3G functionality is a must for me. Just be advised, the Bold will not function on T-Mobile USA's 3G network, just EDGE.

If you want to carry a brick, go with the Bold. Personally, I would get the 8900. I'm actually thinking about getting the 8900 myself. So my vote goes to the 8900.

If you're staying with T-Mobile, go with 8900 unless you like the form factor of the bold. The 8900 is statistically better in every way except for Screen Size, 3G, and processor speed. And you can't even take advantage of the Bold's 3G on T-Mo. Plus the 8900 has UMA.

Well, you might as well get the 8900...

The Bold's 3G won't work on T-Mobile anyway and you also won't get any UMA support. 8900's EDGE is WAY faster than Bold EDGE as well.

I have an 9000, and I should say, anyone who says you will loose features isn't actually speaking the truth. The 9000 is slightly bigger then the 8900 (the phone I had for 3 months prior to getting a 9000) but that also means you'll get a slightly bigger screen, and roomier keyboard then that of the 8900.

The bold also has a faster processor, and better audio quality and microphone quality, The audio playback quality of the 9000 just *smashes* that of the 8900.

Personally, my choice all around would be the 9000, the 9000 just feels nicer in the hand then the 8900, not to say that they either of them feel nice in the hand, The speed and better audio quality, and better keyboard seem to just sweeten the deal personally.
