Thumbs up T-Mobile $89.98 Unlimited Loyalty for Families Plan

In case anyone has been with T-Mobile for at least 22 months and has a family plan,T-Mobile is offering their unlimited plan for $89.98 (with two lines of service; additional lines are $39.98 per month).

This is a big discount from their initial $149.98 pricing. A friend told me that T-Mo had contacted her sister (T-Mo customer for 5 years) to offer her the plan. Since I've been with them since 2002, I called to find out if I was eligible. I received the offer as well and was told that because I had a corporate discount, my account had been "overlooked"; not sure if I'm buying that one, but whatever, I still got the deal.

The only caveat is that this rate plan ONLY INCLUDES MINUTES; the previously included unlimited TEXTING option IS now EXCLUDED; however, you can request a text bundle add-on and still come out on top. My previous pricing was $149.98 for my two lines (unlimited minutes and texts); my new pricing is $89.98 for unlimited minutes + the unlimited family texting add-on for $19.95 for a grand total of $109.93 monthly. Oh, and the icing on the cake is that my corporate discount will still apply to my reduced monthly charges. Not bad for a 10-minute phone call to customer service.

Here are the full details (taken from my account details page):

This is different than the other unlimited plan. The individual unlimited plan for 100 bucks includes messaging, the loyalty plans don't include messaging. Data and messaging have to be added on like normal. For some reason a lot of people don't understand that it's just unlimited voice, not unlimited everything.

Yea, my mom got the plan (yay!) and I still have BIS on my account.
And we're currently thinking about getting the unlimited text for family service (whatever it's called).

I'm actually working on getting this plan as well. I have been communicating through emails with customer care.

I inquired whether my T-mobile @Home service (not hotspot service/UMA) would stay at 9.99/month while the two wireless numbers would be switched to the 89.98. This was initially confirmed to be the case and was set to go through next week at the start of my billing cycle.

Well, I received an email this morning regretfully stating that this would create a billing problem with the third line (@home line). I had confirmed this with three other CSR's and it seems this most recent (4th) CSR doesn't have the power for the "work around" but I know it can be done and will get this plan.

Just need to get the previous or another CSR to make this happen. My thoughts are to just add the @Home line as a service like BB data or texting instead of treating it as an actual added line as it really doesn't have any impact on my wireless service. Its not like anything is shared with my two GSM lines (minutes, texts, etc.), so I am sure the work around is possible. I know there was another post on here about that very same thing.

I'll provide an update on it.

That can't be done technically. When you activate an @Home on an already existing BAN (account number), it acts as an add-on line. Add-on lines are technically 9.99. On an unlimited loyalty plan, each additional line is 39.99. Since this plan's lines are more expensive then the ordinary, it would charge you 39.99 for the @Home each month, rather than the 9.99.

In the system an @Home is a core attachment that must be checked in order for the device's SIM to set itself to active. Typically on phones, anything additional other than the voice is a feature. The only feature you can really add to an @Home is insurance. Unless an entirely new feature was created to act as an existing line add-on was created, this won't work. Even then, a new feature couldn't be done effectively because of the fact that a brand new phone number must be created for the @Home service as well as its own IMEI and 2yr agreement.

In theory your idea would be cool and would make all of the T-Mobile employees' jobs easier, but systematically it can't be done. Things would be chaotic beyond belief in our system.

yeah, the one alternative that was offered was to actually split the family plan (wireless) lines into two individual plans that would then be changed to the Unlimited Loyalty Plan for each one. This was the solution so that the @Home line would remain at 9.99.

You don't have to be with tmobile for 22 months. Customer care called me 3 days ago. They offer me the unlimited loyalty plan for $10 extra. I have about 4 or 5 months left on my 1 year contract(already finished my first one). I don't like to do 2 years but I still got the offer. I asked the rep about my messaging plan and my internet plan, he said everything stays the same, just add $10 to your monthly payment. Sounds good, I think I'm going to get this weekend!

That still wouldn't work. One line is 49.99, to go to two you have to pay an additional 39.99.

The alternative was to split the two up, so essentially paying 89.98 for the family unlimited, it would just be two separate lines at the 49.99 (each) rate plan.

That was their suggestion so that I could keep the @Home service at 9.99.

And what I'm saying is that still isn't possible. With the new loyalty plan, you HAVE to change the plan to a 2 line (family loyalty) plan in order for you to add a line (@Home or not) to a one line 49.99 plan. Unless they coded it to be able to bypass the typical run around, it would more than likely default the rep to do this.

Yeah I'm picking up what your laying down here, and I know this is essentially the "Family Time Unlimited" post as this is what I was originally seeking out.

The work around was to take my current myfavs family plan and separate the two numbers into individual unlimited loyalty plans for 49.99 each and then just have the @Home number attached to either one of these numbers so that it would remain 9.99 and not default as an added family time line for 39.99.

I really just wanted this to take place without having to split them into individual plans. I realize it is only $10 additional each month, but that's just the initial increase. I would have to pay more if I wanted to add texting to each line instead of having a family texting plan. If there was a way to somehow bundle the services so that I could take advantage of this under the "account umbrella" so to speak, then that would be more advantageous. Unless I could just receive a discount on each line for these services that would be the equivalent of a family bundled service.

Sounds like the system is already going to choke on the @Home service, so I don't want to cause it to have a stroke with all of these other workarounds.

I appreciate your input, I'm just trying to wrap my head around how a sophisticated accounting system can't be programmed to accept the @Home service as a 9.99 (special) add on with an unlimited family time plan.

Heck, I could drop the @Home service, but I do enjoy the convenience of it.

That's big, unfortunately I have to wait an additional 5-6 months.
