Default T-Mobile 3G

Anyone know if T-Mo has plans for a 3G Blackberry? I love my 8900, but HATE the Edge network. Hate to even use the internet without a WiFi signal.

Supposedly tmobile will be getting the BB bold 9700 which will be 3g capable. That's supposed to be released sometime in the coming months.

You should check out the forum for the Blackberry Onyx.

http://forums.crackberry.com/f146/

This phone is supposed to be released in a few months, and will have 3G/Wifi.

So if we have a Bold from ATT unlocked on a TMo plan will 3G TMo be enabled? Just curious.

If they have a Sidekick that is 3G capable why not a Blackberry? Sidekicks (only my opinion) are garbage. I'm waiting on the new Blackberry and my patience is running thin! Come on Tmobile!

I can't wait to get that 9700. That might make me comeback to Tmobile.

Unfortunately no.....TMOBILE uses different parts of the spectrum for 3G than ATT.....TMO will not be supporting ATT 3G devices anytime soon in the foreseeable future ....sorry........but you vould always hang in there and wait for the BOLD 2.....AKA onyx with a projected release late 2009....Ima be all over that ....good going TMO on that one........wifi AND 3G in one blackberry and a BOLD at that...wow this is gonna really change the dynamic with the other carriers

The reason is that TM does not presently have 2100 band 3G which is required for phones like the Bold to have 3G.

That said, review some of the recent TM forum articles and see what this is about and how the problem may be resolved later this year

mandony.....not to be snarky but TMO Does use 1700/2100 for its 3G..........

ATT.............uses 850 and 1900 for 3G........the bold of course is att branded and uses 850/1900 for up/down 3G.......it doesnt have the radios to rx/tx 3G

It doesn't really matter if T-mo has a 3G Berry if there's not 3G service. They were supposed to have 3G in my area last November. Today, still no 3G service. Regardless, the 9700 is going to be a rocking device for T-mo!

You know, after seeing Salomondrin's side-by-side comparison of the 9700 running 3G and wi-fi for browsing, I'm not so sure I'd notice a huge difference except in those rare moments I need data that I'm not near a wi-fi hotspot. So, maybe the lack of 3G in some areas won't be a big thorn in T-Mobile's side. Of course, I guess for people who don't have fairly consistent access to wi-fi, it could make a difference. Is there a huge difference between EDGE speeds and T-Mo's 3G speeds?
