T-Mobile 24-month contract, help?

Am I able to use my BB sim in an iPhone3 without my contract having to change/upgrade? I've heard from different forums that you can/you can't and would just appreciate an answer that is actually correct.

BB plans allow service through the RIM servers.
Non-BB phones do not have ability to access those servers.
But, you will still have access to TM email accounts.

That being said, you will need some other TM internet/email plan.
