Default T-Mobile $10 Data Plan

So TMO will introduce a $10 data plan for lightweight smartphone users. I think this is great for light users. I wonder if Blackberry's will be included also since I know many don't even need unlimited. What are your thoughts?

From Engadget: T-Mobile to intro $10 data plan for smartphone data lightweights?

yeah I heard it will include 200MB and if you don't want the $30 unlimited plan but still want a smartphone, you can get this. It will cover the data plan requirement for smartphones. It will make smartphones more affordable for many, I'm sure.

As long as they continue to offer unlimited data in addition, I'm cool with it.

I use my BB heavily on WiFi, so if you get a 9700 with WiFi this is a great option!

Wish my carrier had this!

Default I'm interested...

I checked my data usage for the last 6 months and was surprised that I averaged about 125mb of data a month.
But then I realized that I use wifi for all my data intensive stuff like downloading podcasts, streaming music, and browsing. Google maps is probably the data I use the most off of the network for gps while traveling. Otherwise, I just have the gmail app and weatherbug retrieving updates in the background.

Anyways, I would consider that option for me since I'll have to give up my $20 grandfathered plan with my next upgrade......which will be the 9780 for sure. I also would get it for my wife. She's been using my old 8320 without a data plan and it'd be perfect for her purposes. (poynt, google maps, gmail)

I'm still rocking my 8900, so no hard feelings from me on the 9780 being a 9700 refresh. It'll be an awesome upgrade for me. The same for my wife when she gets my 8900.

my thoughts anyway

I may look into getting this for myself and my wife, too. I really don't browse that much and unless Facebook and Twitter are really that big of a net hog, I don't forsee any problems with making that swap. I may even do it for my bil who has a Pearl Flip.

Brewkelywn,

Which $20 plan do you have? T-Mobile began to introduce new loyalty offers for older customers...you can get $20 "Preferred BB Unlimited Web" or "Preferred Android Unlimited Web". If you have this plan, you most certainly can keep it.

If you're talking about the 19.99 "Pref BIS" plan, then yeah, it seems like they are weaning people off that one. But there is a legit loyalty offering of the same price that they give to people.

Hmm, just checked mytmobile and it's called "BB BIS AddOn" and I've had it for 3+ years now unchanged.

My last upgrade was March of 2009. When I upgraded my sister's line March 2010 I had to get the $25 plan labeled as "REQ BB Web Only Un" so I assume the same will happen at my next upgrade.

But haven't heard/read about this loyalty offering.

Ok, yeah you have the old one then. The loyalty offering is a relatively new one.

I had the newer $20 plan but I JUST upgraded to an Android (G2) phone today and they kept me on the $20 plan but now I'm on the "Preferred Android Unlimited Web".

Yeah they are definitely out there.

I'll look out for that, thx.

Still, if I'm gonna stay under the 200mb plateau, then I might as well get this $10 plan if it pans out.

we'll see...i'm anxious for these next few months to pass by with this new plan and the 9780 coming.
