Default Switching to EM+ plan?

Just wondering if it is possible to switch to an EM+ plan while still in the midst of a 2yr contract? It seems like it would be an awesome promo if TMO let ppl switch and pay the $20 a month depending on how long they have been in their contract. The EM+ plans sound really cool, and may keep me on TMobile when my contract is up.

Yeah you should the only thing u would have to pay would be the 35 dollar per line migration fee to switch and a possible etf fee but not 100% sure your best bet would be to call tmo and get the details from them

Aiight I will give them a call sometime this week. I was hoping that someone here would know, just to save me a call haha. I won't do it if I have to pay an ETF fee, not worth the $200 to me, but for $35 I would do it, I would save that much in 2 months.

What discount? Did the rep say you could switch to an em+ plan?

That's why you want to call, as the ETF waiver that some have been posting about, MIGHT be for a limited amount of time (from the date of the new plans going into effect), so rather than saving a call, find out what will happen with YOU, rather than what has happened with others. May very well be a time limit, so if 10,000 customers get it without the ETF, won't help you much if you wait a day after it stops to switch. Right?

Just lay out your concerns like you have here when you call in. And if what they tell you is not clear, have them keep explaining it until you do. Always the best option IMHO.

I called in and got switched to the EM+ plan for only $35 fee, no ETF. I have 1 year left on contract. I was told that the ETF-waiving fee thing was a promo going on the day that the new plans launched, which was when I called in and got switched. I have no idea if the promo is still going on but it's worth a call.

Just got off the phone with another great TMobile CSR, and I am officially on the 500 minute EM+ plan! It is going to save me $15 a month, so after 3 months I will be saving money. Honestly I was fed up w/ Tmobile reception, but the EM+ makes up for it. Not being in a contract is awesome, as is the $20 a month phone payments. So really, for only $5 a month more than what I am paying now I can get a new phone whenever. Pretty awesome IMO.

Exactly. I am going to save up some money over the next month or so, then put it towards a 9700 and pay off the remainder over a couple of months. Just a question, does the $20 phone payment have interest? Or is it just straight the retail value for the phone?

Straight retail value. No worries.

T-Mobile themselves have advertised their new 4 and 20 month payment plans as being interest free.

Nice! EM+ has restored my faith in T-Mobile as a competent wireless company. The 2yr agreement deal has stalled customer adaption and stunted customer satisfaction in the wireless industry since its inception in the US and the fact that Tmobile is working to change that is inspiring.

Consumers should be able to walk with their feet anytime they want. I've always had a strong distaste for this forcing customers to stay when they no longer are happy. I love T-Mobile and have no expectations of going anywhere but I'd like to have the choice of doing so if it ever becomes necessary.

It's also an incentive to treat your customers well when you no longer have that ETF hammer hanging over their head. The whole ETF thing was always a bully thing for incompetent carriers.
