Default switching between android and bb on Tmobile

Do any of you have experience or currently switching between a BB and android phone on one Tmobile number? Is it as simple as inserting the SIM card or do you have to call CSR to activate BIS everytime you switch back to your BB?

From my knowledge, CSR told me that you need to have the $30 plan and you also need to call in every time you wanted to switch from BB to Android or vice versa. I also would like to be able to switch between BB and an Android device but it's not as simple as just switching SIM cards.

I've switched many times (yes, I'm fickle when it comes to which phone I'm liking at the moment). You don't have to call CSR, you can change it online. I have the $30 plan and swap back and forth from the BB 4G Unlimited Web to the plain 4G Unlimited Web. Usually takes only a few minutes for the switch to take place (although once I had to wait overnight). The switch from the BB plan to the Android plan is seamless and very easy. The switch back to BB is harder because you have to set up your BB email accounts all over again, which is a pain in the neck. (It seems to work best if you go into your service books on your BB and delete the email service books for your various email accounts, before you go to set them up again).

Just swap your SIM, then go online and change your phone from the main screen. Then go to manage your account and change services. A pop up will come up saying you have to select a new data plan because your old one isn't compatible. Select the appropriate plan. For me, it works because both plans are $30 so there is no change in the bill. Follow the instructions and it will say "account changed." That's all there is to it.

That's good to know. Unfortunately I am in a grandfathered BB plan of $25 and I'm sure the new 4G android plans are at least $30...although I would be willing to pay $5 more for the added benefits of a much more data capable smartphone.

Yeah, my wife is grandfathered on a $20 unlimited BlackBerry plan. I won't change hers because I'm sure I wouldn't be able to switch back.

Cool

When I was on the unlimited loyalty plan a few months ago I had no problem switching from my $20 BB plan to the $20 Preferred Android plan. The only catch is you have to have someone in the Loyalty department make the change. When you call just say "Loyalty" or "Canceling my Service". I actually always ask for someone in the Loyalty department because they seem far more knowledgeable than a regular CS Rep.

Good Luck

My fee stays $25 for the BB or the Android.

Is it possible for the Android phone to run on the BB plan? I'm sure some features may not work completely correctly but it may be worth it if you don't want the hassle of switching.

Sent from my VZW Thunderbolt.

I'm almost 100% sure it's not possible....

As to the hassle, did you get up this morning? When you swung your legs out of bed and put your feet on the floor prior to rising you'd done more work and spent more time then it takes to switch from BB to Android on your carrier's website. I fail to understand the hassle of openinig a webpage, logging in, clicking the mouse 3 or 4 times and then logging off???

Or, does VZW still do over the air? You can switch your phone in less than a minute if they still do that.

I did that but it was with a nexus one, not sure if the device matters on the switch. It worked fine, I was able to get the Internet working outside in the streets.

actually it IS a hassle if you have a grandfathered plan like the OP does. If you have the newer, more expensive $30 plan, then yes its easy, just switch online. But if you have an older one, you can't switch online. You have to call in to tmobile everytime, be on hold, an hopefully get a rep who knows how to handle gf plans without screwing them up.
