Default Suncom 8310 locked by tmobile

How can i get the antenna unlocked on 8310 that was disabled by Tmobile? I have a friend that had his 8310 disabled by Tmobile. I have reloaded software several times and can not get it to reconize SIM(SOS). I have loaded Tmobile software and Suncom software. Tried valid old Sim card from Suncom and Tmobile. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Sounds more like a hardware issue, but if it truly is a subsidy lock issue, T-Mobile can provide the code for you as long as you have a current account. Give them a call

Well the thing is...Tmobile locked it. His track ball got dirty and he went and got new phone. They then changed him over to Tmobile SIM card and phone. They told him they would diable his BB phone. He brought it to me and asked me if I could get it unlocked.

Well, that's not quite accurate. T-Mobile didn't lock it, they just had to give him a new SIM, which the phone will identify as foreign. He should be able to call and get a code no problem. They put an unlock procedure in place specifically for SunCom customers who needed new SIM cards

What it sounds like is that he has a new phone and a new SIM. Therefore, TMo locked the old SIM. Sounds like the old phone is banned from being used anymore, as it was reported unuseable, right?

Thats what they told him. He is unfamiliar with testing/modifying BBs. He just accepted what they told him. I just wanted to know if there is anything I can do to enable its use again. I have tried a working SIM in both suncom and tmobile to no avail after reloading software each time with and without vendor files.

It sounds like TMo blocked the IMEI for that Blackberry, so its worthless now.

I've never heard of a US carrier blocking an IMEI. I thought that was just a European thing.

Let me make sure I understand. He was switched to a new T-Mobile SIM, and also given a new T-Mobile BB? I ask because once the SunCom SIM is inactive, the phone will display SOS only because it cannot find service. Inactive ATT SIMs do the same thing. The only way to know for sure would be to unlock the SunCom BB and put a known active SIM in it. The problem is that I don't know T-Mobile will give you an unlock code if they specifically took it away from him.

Dang, now I want to know the answer. Any chance he wants to sell it to me so I can take a crack at unlocking it?

This is why I think T-Mo blocked that particular phone. I know they don't regularly do it, but why would they tell him that, unless they knew he'd try to reactivate a phone that he claimed was unusable?

Its cause SunCom sim cards are being phased out slowly just as with the Cingular to AT&T transition that took place.

The OP said that they tried a working TMo sim also, so that's why it sounds like TMo blocked that phone permanently.
