Question Storm on TMo - Which OS to use?!

First off, I want to say I've been trying to work this out on my own without posting something for almost three weeks now. I've searched here, google, other blackberry sites and I just do not know if I'm using the wrong terms or if this is an issue with my phone. Thank you in advance for any help and sorry if this is a question I should have been able to figure out on my own.

1 - Background
I bought my phone on ebay.

When I first got the phone I followed the steps on this forum on how to make the Storm work with t-mobile. Everything worked after those steps but I would only get "edge" service, so I searched more and found a post about wiping the phone and installing a downgraded os.

I did that and it worked well.

Needless to say, I upgraded my phone's os recently (a friend of mine using a Storm on AT&T upgraded and still had service, so I thought I might get it as well AND improve my GPS (I was hopeful)) and the EDGE went away, other features were not working and it didn't even improve my GPS feature.

SOOOO

I went back to the internet ( via computer) and started hunting for the original post about wiping my handheld and getting the "correct" operating system on my Storm so I could go back to using the majority of the features on my phone. I couldn't find that post again!

So, I wiped the phone...(I found JL_cmder again) but I wasn't sure what os to upload so I just took a guess. I guessed poorly. My phone turns off randomly, hardly ever gets an internet connection (even though it says "EDGE" all the time) and is SO STINKING SLOW. It is basically a paper weight for me right now.

Someone help me please. I've made a major mess out of this.

Where I am now -
Blackberry 9530
v4.7.0.90 (platform 4.0.0.114)
Desktop Manager v4.6
T-Mobile
PIN 3061C4D7

Apps on on the phone:
Google Maps
Google Sync
Google talk (yes...I have a problem with google)
Facebook

On a side note:
Google maps has never worked the way I want it to. The "share location" feature does NOT work when I change apps. I have gone through the steps of just switching applications, I have gone to the "close and continue to share" and I've uninstalled and reinstalled, pulled the battery and now all this drama with the os. Same thing. So I'm fairly sure it is a feature to save my battery life, it turns off the GPS when I am not actively in google maps? I guessing here, so if anyone knows with a certainty will you let me know? I would love to find a way to use the GPS when I'm active in google maps and then use the AGPS when it is not active.....possible??

Pipe dreams??

TIA

Go to the latest 5.0.0.328 release and you should have pretty good luck.

Will it help the op to try 5.0.0.328? All the comments on the site show that those who have an unlocked 9530 and upgrade to 5.0.0.328 can not make phone calls. I have been holding off on upgrading to 5.0. i have 4.7.0.75 and it works well. I have EDGE everywhere except for in my house which is the same as every other TMobile phone I have.

Hi,

Go to 4.7.0.167. This one is the best OS out there so far for GSM users on Storm. The radio file is good on signal and constant "EDGE" for me. Tried upgraded to 5.0.0.338 couple days ago and very disappinted. Like most of ppl, it says "no circuit/channel available".

hey op I have tmobile on my unlocked 9530 as well as my wife we have the 5.0.0.328 on out phones and since the upgrade from .148 the phones are working so smooth with constant EDGE all the time. My wife was a big complainer of always losing her signal & not being able to get in FB now she is so happy and that makes me happy. Recently just upgraded my brothers unlocked 9530 to the .328 as well & he is very surprised with its capabilities as he has owned his longer than I have. I think u should give this os a go its really great to me and my family on our unlocked 9530's...

+1 for .75

I've tried almost every OS for the Storm, including regular, hybrid, and beta. .75 was the only one that consistently kept my EDGE connection and allowed third party apps to work properly.
