Default Storm 2

I've been thinking about getting an unlocked storm 2 to use on tmobile. I've read about the "no circuit/channel" issue.

Does anybody know what causes this, and if it were to happen how to fix it?

It would be a real bummer to come across this issue, after buying an unlocked device.

I bought a Storm2 off eBay, and got it yesterday. It literally took three minutes for me to unlock it (via an unlock code that I bought off eBay for 99 cents).

I read about that issue too - and it never actually happened to me. It just has to do with your network settings. Like, you have to make sure you have the Network Technology setting right, and the Network Mode right too.

I would have no problem getting a VZW Storm2 9550 except for I would have no UMA and no 3G, UMA being the REAL deal breaker.

Have any of you heard if T-Mobile USA is going to get the Storm2 9520?

It really makes me mad that if I lived in the UK I could sign a new contract and get one FREE, that's right FREE!

FREE BlackBerry Storm2 (9520) @ http://www.t-mobile.co.uk

I am out of contract and eligible for a phone upgrade, but going from an 8900 to a 9700 just isn't enough of an "upgrade" for me with the super craptacular keyboard it has, though the trackpad is nice.

I really want to get a Storm2 9520 and will gladly pay for it, it's time for a change, but am I waiting on something that is never going to happen is the question.

That would be a nice toy but I doubt it.

Highly doubtful the storm would come to t-mobile. And I had an unlocked storm running on tmobile and I only had that issue with 5.0.0.328 but when I loaded .419. If you have it set up correctly you can get all features working great, except 3G of course

Another question; if I were to get an unlocked storm on tmobile, and verizon releases an official OS update, would I be able to plug my storm into DM and get the update that way, or would I have to download it from a 3rd party site?

I also run DM for Mac, so if I have to download from a 3rd party site, it's looks like I am out of luck as they never release a "Mac" version of the downloads.

Yes you can get the official updates directly from RIM/DM. The "no circuit channel available" doesn't happen to everyone. Only way to know is to test it after it's unlocked.

Some have reported that upgrading/downgrading OS fixed the issue and some had to get the SIM card replaced.
