Would you mind keeping us upadted on this? | They did eliminate the ability to do this in June, but I know I'm not the only grandfathered person who doesn't have a data plan as I read about it here before I got a BlackBerry. I have access to wifi nearly everywhere I go so paying for a data plan didn't make sense to me.
FWIW, T-Mobile does state that they charge per MB, but what Artemis is saying is that on a BlackBerry, you either have a data plan or you don't in their eyes.
The whole thing hinged on enabling for IM. It is included in unlimited text so they would enable the phone for that, which in turn enabled it for everything else.
As of June, they will flat out tell you that if you want IM, you have to use a phone such as a Motorola that is text-based IM, but they will partially enable for MMS.
