Default Sprint Loves T-Mobile?

Sprint's Hesse: there's 'logic' to a T-Mobile merger -- if they both move to LTE

What do you guys think of a merger between Sprint and T-Mobile? Would it benefit us, the consumers?

That is what they were trying to do last time and it fell in the cracks...looks like they will try again, I just hate Sprint all together for there lack of service.

I read an article on yahoo the other day saying Tmobile is one of a handful of companies that could disappear in 2011...it will be interesting to see what happens.

I don't see this happening either for a variety of reasons. I couldn't imagine Sprints CDMA and T-Mobile's GSM "merging"....UGH talk about a whole host of problems. And I like T-Mobile's CS. Sprint's sucks.

Yuck, just keep them separate, please!

If this happened, I'd probably end up porting out to VZW.

T-Mobile is the only carrier I don't hate. They don't trick customers, they have reasonably priced plans and and straightforward contracts. It would be a shame if they merged with Sprint, a carrier cut of the same cloth as AT&T and Verizon with shady rebates and contracts and billing issues.

I really don't see a reason for this, T-Mobile HSPA+ network seems like a much better solution than LTE for the next few years.

Wouldn't surprise me; they're small potatoes. But a merger of CDMA & GSM????

Yeah the clashing of the technologies involved is what makes me doubt that it will happen.

If does, you can be sure that there will be MAJOR problems to work out...if they ever get worked out at all.

There are several problems with this:
  1. Sprint doesn't have the money to be the acquiring party in a merger
  2. Deutsche Telekom will not be allowed to be the majority holder of a merged entity due to Sprint's Tier 1 backbone
  3. The merged company would have to contend with four different standards before they even consider rolling out LTE
  4. All of T-Mobile and Sprint's markets overlap, there is no gain and all overlaps would have to be swapped out
  5. Clearwire is clearly not living up to whatever business plan that was rolled out for it, and at some point, the partners with money (Intel) are going to want to see a return on investment

Just my $.02...I'd feel bad for the T-Mobile customers though if it happened. Heck, I'd feel bad for the Sprint customers too....

I don't see this happening. I love Sprint, they have always been good to me and have been getting better, always had issues when I had T-mobile, horrible experience with them and verizon.

I've been with T-Mobile for about 9 years now and have always had great service and appreciate their pricing too. Hope they don't merge!

LOL, doesn't sound like anyone from EITHER side wants it to happen.

Now come on people...how many times have we heard the rumor about Sprint/T-Mobile merging? It will always come up in people's minds because both companies are seen as the current "underdogs" of the national carriers, below VZW and ATT. Doesn't mean that it's going to happen though.

T-Mobile is going through huge structural changes for the better. They are adding to their line up of offerings and are continuing to make a huge push for Android phones, data connections, and some other offerings that should help sure up the subscriber numbers. Their biggest problem is having only 94% of 2G coverage. Let's not even go into their HSPA and HSPA+ coverage. It's coming up, but not fast enough, especially on the 2G side.

The most important thing is T-Mobile is still turning a profit while Sprint is hemorrhaging money. So long as T-Mobile USA keeps turning profit, do not look for any mergers.
