Spotty Data Coverage on 3G

I'm in the Riverside/Loma Linda area of California (92501 and 92534) and ever since the Blackberry outage a while back, my data has been really spotty over 3G. Sometimes it will work fine, other times the Blackberry logo will disappear and it will still say 3G, but I'll check "Service Status" and my connection to my Blackberry Internet Service and Blackberry Enterprise Server will be disconnected. When I jump back down EDGE only, then the data is restored. Has anyone else had anything similar? Is this a hardware issue? I'm very reluctant to upgrade my phone due to finances but it's infuriating when I can't rely on my 3G.

Re-register the host rounting tables, re-send your service books. See if that does anything.
