as i said before, the only people who think we're "overreacting" are ATT customers.

they get more 4G coverage, more towers, and possibly more phone choices. Wow great! :eyeroll:

...what about the rest of us?

Agree, but they also have a lot to lose like the chance to go to a carrier that offers better services and better customer service due to competition. They also have to realize this of course will mean higher prices, maybe not on the short term but there's no doubt we will see that happen soon.

VZ also benefits because they will be getting rid of a very strong competitor and again could raise their prices and most likely att will follow suit and so on.

Verizon isn't present in my area. US Cellular is plain awful with pricing, that only leaves Sprint as an alternative where I live.

ya know i HONESTLY wouldn't mind paying for ATT IF they offered unlimited data and decent voice plans.

Again, as i've said before, i loved their network. I had service where ever I was. But I'm sorry...I can sacrifice a bit in service for decent voice plans and data.

Right, ATT's argument here is you still have at least two choices there so there's plenty of competition; i think that's just silly. I like how sprint has a roaming deal with VZ, why can't we have that with tmo and att with out an adquisition? Or if it's all about spectrum, the FCC should give up some and help all carriers.

In essence i think choices equals market efficiency and here is where the consumer benefits.

VZ claims there is no issue with competition... not just AT&T.

So VZ is actually reinforcing AT&T's argument on this.

Sure, if tmo goes, so does its very aggressive pricing and VZ does not have to worry about them anymore. Also think, in terms of android, tmo is the closest competitor, att is not there yet.

Sprint is a larger android competitor than Tmobile though... Also AT&T is going for a diverse phone portfolio ever since before the iphone exclusivity is lost, so yeah they aren't backing only a single platform, moreso than the other carriers (out of necessity).

Yes, that's a great point; Sprint does seem to be a greater android competitor. This is exactly what regulators should come to grasp. Discount carriers provide innovation, they have to create excitement in order to sway customers away from bigger carriers (VZ and at&t.) Similarly, pricing is another way of enticing consumers to sign up with these LOWER cost carriers.

There is a reason why today we have an unregulated airline market, approving the acquisition of T-mobile will come very close to a regulated/monopolized style of market. I hope everyone realizes more options no doubt means lowers prices, more innovation and healthier competition, more choices.

Wow I don't know where you get that, maybe if you're on a family plan which I'm not. My USC plan is the cheapest/most features than any of the others I checked.

Thank you for your interest in U.S. Cellular. Unfortunately, we do not provide wireless service in the Zip code you have entered. Please try another Zip code or click the link to search by state/city

New York, NY. 10005

I hope from a year from now i will be able to have the same or more choices from where to choose. Certainly no less please!
