Default Samsung Vibrant capable of 3G speeds on AT&T

Confirmed: Galaxy S unlock codes are stored in your phone, Vibrant capable of AT&T 3G -- Engadget

That's pretty cool. Maybe it has all the 3G bands?

If this is true, then would that work for the Captivate, Epic, and the rest of the Galaxy S series?

In the article they said that the Captivate only had EDGE speeds while being used on T-Mobile.

The Sprint and Verzion Galaxy S phones are CDMA, so the only way to put them into a new provider is to flash the ESN onto their network, they don't use SIM cards.

AT&T and T-Mobile still use SIM cards using the same technology(I believe it is called GSM?) So all you have to do is unlock it and then put the SIM card. I heard that the Vibrant can only get EDGE speeds on AT&T though... Regardless why would you want to put the Vibrant on AT&T? They are almost identical in form factor and software is the same, buying It from their respective carriers will safe you time, money, and any problems you might have.

U had it all right but the Vibrant can achieve 3G on At&T. it's the Captivate that cannot achieve 3G on tmobile.
1 reason someone would choose an unlocked vibrant on AT&T is because AT&T has the captivate locked down and alot of people dont trust rooting their device
