Default quick questions

i have been with t-mobile for more than a year, and i wanted to upgrade my 8320 for the 8900. now the customer service rep told me that i had to pay $349.99 with a 2 year extension for the phone. upset, i researched the internet and i found wirefly. they are selling the 8900 for $79.99 with a 2 year extension they're also adding a $75 rebate if you trade in your old 8320. now...

1) should i keep calling t-mobile & see if i get a better deal, or is this the best i can get since i've only been with them for a year?

2) is wirefly a good site to buy a blackberry from? (i'm not a fan of buying stuff online)

3) I also heard that people were getting family messaging discounts from $19.99 down to $9.99, am I eligible for this offer (I have a family plan with 2 more phones?)

If any t-mobile reps can help me out as well, it would be greatly appreciated

1) the massive discount is available to T-Mobile customers that have been with T-Mobile for 22 months. They will offer the phone plus a contract extension of 2 years for the advertised price, if you've been with them for 22 months or longer.

2) wire fly is a decent site, i've heard mixed reviews.

3) you HAVE to give them the product code mentioned in the thread "save $$$ with t-mo"... if the first person doesn't do it. just keep calling back to you get some one that does.

1. As the last user said, you can't get your full discount till 22 months. Anything before it is only a partial, with ~50 bucks off of full retail price with a 2 year extension.

2. Wire Fly I've heard of, but keep in mind it's 3rd party.

3. The code supposedly works, but you need to push buttons and be nice with Customer Care to get that type of deal. I'm not entirely sure if they'll do it for someone that hasn't been with the company for their entire contract duration yet, but you could always give it a try, doesn't hurt.

For unlocked, some reliable (real) stores are:
jandr.com
wirefly.com (they have upgrade phones with no contract)
mobilecityonline.com
tigerdirect.com

They all have a fair return policy an in store warranty.

I have bought from all of them with no problems, except tigerdirect does not have good customer service.

Now that T-Mobile is charging an $18 upgrade fee, the discount is hardly noticable. Save your money, and buy the phone outright, instead of it being added to your bill

Lets examen this
Blackberry 8900 -
499.00 Outright price = 499.00
409.00 + 18.00 w/ 2yr extension (w/o having a full discount) = 427.00
199.00 + 18.00 w/2yr extension (w/ having a full discount) =217.00

HTC "Google" G1
399.99 out right price = 399.99
359.99 + 18.00 w/ 2yr extension (w/o having a full discount) = 377.98
199.99 + 18.00 w/2yr extension (w/ having a full discount) = 217.00

Well if 427 ---> 217 isn't "noticeable" then i want your money but in my book that is 210.00 difference.

Go to Best Buy. If you are eligible for an upgrade, they will extend your plan for another 2 yrs and the 8900 is $99. I did it this weekend - it was effortless.

~Cheers
