Default Questions about Storm 2 9550 on TMO

I have both of our phones unlocked and are going to be switching them over to TMO. 2 questions as I am new to this unlocking approach.

1. I have been googling anything about how the 9550 is on TMO and the only thing I see is a Circuit failure. And this appears common, however the posts that these show up on are from back in November when the 9550 was released. Is this still an issue or has it been fixed?

2. We are not too worried about dropping to EDGE as really all we want to do with it now is text and we will use WIFI when we are at home. So this question is basically from reading the forums. Is it possible to just get voice and text? And will we be able to get picture texts without being on a BB Data Plan?

Thanks for anyone who contributes to this thread

These type of threads have been popping up on T-mobiles official forums. I haven't seen a direct fix to get the S2 to work on t-mobile's network. they are very problematic. and as far as MMS it really depends on who you talk to @ t-mobile. according to the TOS you do need a BIS package to use the MMS feature, but some reps throw the blackberry enabler on there for free, which they shouldn't do, but will allow you to get MMS. and if you can get UMA working (http://tinyurl.com/yanhtje) you might be able to use it on Wi-Fi... .but if not you'll be stuck without a cell phone signal. Because Wi-Fi by it's self will not carry a voice signal or a SMS/MMS signal. you need EDGE/HSPA or UMA.

As stated above the 9550 doesn't have UMA ability. 8900 and 9700's do.
