Question on Service
Question here I'm hoping some of you guys could assist me with. Rather dumb when it comes to this so here it goes.
I applied for Tmobile service and was denied due to bad credit, However they approved me for some premium tier of Flex Pay or some sort and also wanted me to pay full pop for the phone.
So here's my question. If I buy an Unlocked Tmobile phone from a friend or on ebay, What happens after that? This is where I'm clueless. I know I need a SIM card, But don't I need to be in contract (which I was denied) to put a plan on a SIM card? Ideally I would like to pay X amount a month and have say talk, text and data.
In summary, What exactly can I do with an unlocked tmobile phone despite having been denied a contract with them. I want to use the phone for texting and internet use, but I always figured it's much much cheaper to do plans as opposed to pre paid or this new flex pay.
I apologize for my ignorance and would greatly appreciate any light you guys can shed on this for me! What are my options once I get ahold of an unlocked phone?
Thank You!Last edited by Larzuk; 06-22-2011 at 12:05 AM.

I've been on T-Mo's Flex Pay for like 2 years now, and have an unlocked Torch.
I have the following on my plan, for about $70/mnth:
-500 Anytime minutes
-Unlimited night/weekend minutes
-Unlimited SMS
-Visual Voice Mail
-BlackBerry Unlimited Web (data basically)
Tmo can give you the SIM when you sign up for Flex Pay. The only thing that kinda sucks about Flex Pay is there is no grace period. If you don't pay your bill by the due date, service is disconnected immediately. However, pay the bill and they turn it back on, no big deal.@_Miche11e_

So as I understand Flex Pay, It is NOT prepaid minutes.(ie. 5cent text messages, 5cents per KB of Data, etc, etc.) Rather, It's identical to a regular plan, Except for example you pay at the BEGINNING of a period for that months of service, etc.
Finally, Does one need to "qualify" if you will for this plan or can anyone go into Tmobile with an unlocked phone and get this? No deposit, No credit check, etc?
I thank you for your assistance Michelle. - 06-22-2011, 03:10 PM #4
Nope, no deposit or credit check. I think it's made for people with less than perfect credit, lol.

You just have to pay for the first month up front, since it's prepaid. We originally got this plan for Bla1ze, who was here visiting for a month from Canada. It was cheaper than paying for him to roam while here. He had his unlocked Rogers BlackBerry, and we just went in and paid and got a sim card, as far as I remember.
I forgot to mention with FlexPay you can also add money to your account, they call it a FlexAccount, for services you don't have included in your plan. Say you occasionally send a text or two to Canada. This isn't included in your plan, so it won't let you send it. If you have money in your FlexAccount, you can send the international SMS, and it deducts from that balance. It carries over month to month as well, because it's separate from your regular bill. If you go over your minutes or whatever, they will deduct from your FlexAccount in that case as well. I've never really had a need for the FlexAccount, but it's nice to know it's there if you need it.@_Miche11e_
