Default Question

If I was to put my 9780 SIM card in my wife's Samsung Comeback, what would happen, other than that her phone would have my phone number? Would this make any automatic changes to my plan?

The reason I ask is, that I still have a contract until 2013 and I actually want to get out and go to AT&T or Sprint to get 3G/4G coverage. The reason I upgraded to a 9780 and extended my contract in January was the fact that I was being mislead and lied to by T-Mobile, that they were working on 3G in my area, which never happened. I'm still using GPRS and I am sick of this slow network.
Her line is out of contract so I would just cancel her line, give her my SIM card and try to downgrade her plane as low as possible. She only makes phone calls, doesn't text or use the internet. This way I could go and look elsewhere.

Any suggestions?

it is best to read the contract that you signed when you upgraded the BB line.
On the said line, it should say something like you are obligated to pay for the BB service or some other service for the term of the contact. TM does not care if the physical phone on the line under contract is a BB or other, they just want to get paid. They will not allow you to downgrade the service other than the minimum stated in the contract. Your other escape is to pay the penalty fee for cancellation.

Regarding your claim that TM 'lied', do you have something in writing that could be used in an argument to downgrade that line?

I have a chat transcript from that particular date. The agent stated that they are working on it when asked WHEN and IF 3G service is coming to my town.
I am not sure whether this is good enough to count. In away it can mean that 3G expansion is worked on in general, but I took it as a direct answer to my question, because I asked for a specific area. I was thinking about leaving elsewhere back then because of lack of 3G coverage, instead I took the agent by the word and upgraded to a 9780. In MY eyes that was sort of misleading, and it had long term consequences with renewal of contract with an additional 2 years.

To make it short, today I feel like I got screwed.

I don't think that chat promised you anything specific. It was up to you to not sign the contract, but you did so without a firm answer.

T-Mobile can be working on 3G for years yet not have it in your city.

Yeah it looks like it is more or less my own fault. I shouldn't have taken it too serious. I might just have to bite the bullet and buy my way out. GPRS is unbearable on a device like the 9780. Half the apps aren't working right, because stuff simply times out. I pay the 200 bux and go to AT&T and get some decent internet connection.
