hey there.....yes you can and from my personal experience the tour seems to work best.....no matter what you will NOT be able to take advantage of TMO 3G......in order to use the phone youll have to unlock it and update the phones service books......
No real advantage or disadvantage....really just more about preference IMHO

If you took the bold, tour and storm and ran them on tmobiles edge network would the 8900 be faster than them since the 8900 has more edge channels? I'm just curious. I know its edge vs edge so there may be no difference.

Jabz: I have a fully-functional Storm on T-Mobile (e-mail, MMS, web, etc.). There is talk of T-Mobile's 3G network being expanded, so phones that cannot currently be used on T-Mobile's network due to frequency differences/limitations may be functional on T-Mobile's 3G network in the future...a search of the forum should turn up the thread if you're interested in finding out more.
One important issue I've experienced is with call waiting. From what I understand, this is an account-specific carrier-provisioned option on the Verizon network (meaning Verizon has to enable the feature on the customer's account), whereas with T-Mobile, it's automatically provisioned on all accounts. Although entering T-Mobile's short code (similar to #225# for balance info) for activating and checking call waiting indicate that it is provisioned and active, I have not been able to get call waiting to work on my Storm...when I click over to the party that is waiting, I lose the first caller completely. I have been meaning to call T-Mo customer service to see if they can do anything, but haven't gotten around to it. Outside of that, I haven't had any problems with the Storm on T-Mobile's network.

| | service book
hey Larry I just bought I BB tour 9630 from Sprint and is unlocked, but I cant get the browser to work. I used a bb storm before and I added the service book and it works like a charm.
is there any services books for the bb tour 9630 ?
i also notice that the EGDE drops to egde..... is there an OS that will keep EGDE?
I love my storm but I hate taking the battery out every day because I am running out of memory and I only have 3 applications installed.
Thank you for your help guys.

There have been more than a few threads on the topic of T-Mobile and 3G and what that will mean when it comes to using 3G phones from other carriers. There is simply no way that the Bold or the Storm or the Tour will operate on T-Mobile's 3G network. Edge? Yes. 3G? No. Period. End of discussion.
As seen in previous posts we know that the OP suffers from "don't-tell-me-what-I-don't-want-to-hear-and-don't-confuse-me-with-the-facts" syndrome.
If we stay on pattern, the name calling should begin shortly.

Thank you for your help guys. | danny.....the books you used for your storm will also work for your tour!!!! yay...lmao.....no seriously just follow the same procedure for your tour as you did for the storm and you should be good......that EDGE dropping to edge thing SHOULD stop once you get your books swapped out......ALL the reports Ive gotten including my TOUR is that once the books are loaded your golden!!!.....
Unlike the storm where you had to sometimes go back and load hybrid OS's or swap radio files....if you need ANY help me or berryite can help ya and will be more than happy to help....make sure you come back and let us know if all is well....good luck
