Default Plan Question

I have seen that everybody is very knowledgeable and would love if someone could help me out.

My wife has been with T-Mobile for years and I am with Alltel. I want to switch us to the same carrier. She is eligible for the $89.99 unlimited family loyalty plan with T-Mobile. I want to buy us both Blackberry 8900's so we can place calls with wifi since we do not get any reception in our house without it. I need Enterprise on mine, she would not. We are also pretty heavy texters. With all of this the price gets unaffordable and retention has not been that helpful in getting us a better deal. What is the best way to go about this and what should I expect to pay?

What are you paying now (combined)? Does your wife need a BB? Of course that is relative. Couldn't imagine not having mine.

Anyway, did she get the $135 credit offer for porting a number and adding a line? Is she due for a handset upgrade? I would assume you would get the new contract price on a BB with adding a line.

You need enterprise, but see if she could get the previous $19.99 data plan and just add the $19.99 texting for families. You don't need to pay the $9.99 hotspot since you would have unlimited minutes. UMA rocks by the way.

Also, think about "everything" you are getting. Good customer service goes a long way. Would you ever tether your BB? No extra fees for this.

With the retention department, did she state she was looking to jump ship? I've seen a few decent retention offers mentioned on this site.

Look through some of these threads that have some input from T-Mobile employees. If you don't get what you want the first time, politely thank them for their time, hang up and try again.

give a csr this code for $9.99 unlimited family texting: FTMSG999

also if she is eligible for the 89.99 unlimited for two then if you port your number from alltel to tmobile she will get $135 credited to her account.

I can vouch for this information still being good. I added a phone to a Customer Loyalty plan. I pay $40 for unlimited calling and I was at $35 for unlimited data and messaging. But I called tmobile and spoke with the retention department and with some finessing and massaging they gave me the PREF BB BIS add on for $19.99 (with 1 month free) and unlimited family messaging for $9.99. Saved me over $15 per month. So they can still do this as of today, despite the rate hikes.

Essentially you would have the plan for $89.99, then you would want family unlimited text for $24.95, and you would need the BES and BIS unlimited data for $29.98. Totaling just under $145.
