Phone Trade-In Question

I'm planning on renewing my t-mobile account and getting the Blackberry 9700. After I receive it, I plan to give the phone to my gf because she really wanted this blackberry.

My question is, do I have to use the 9700 on my tmobile number/account in order to qualify for the oldphone cashback trade-in? Or will I be fine giving the phone to my gf new/unused.

No, you don't have to. You can use your phone with any sim card you want. It don't matter.
