Default Phone quit using tmo towers?

I'm trying to figure out if this is a Tmo issue, or an OS issue (I'm on 5.0.0.100) - but about two weeks ago I noticed my service started to go down the drain to the point that now my phone won't send or receive data unless I'm within range of a wifi hot spot. T-Mobile spent two hours trying to diagnose the problem before I got "I don't know". I'm thinking of wiping my device down and starting with a fresh os, but was wondering if anyone might have any less drastic ideas.

I should say, I'm showing to have at least 3 bars of signal and still having this problem. My husband has the same phone on the stock os, and while he's noticed a severe service decline, its not been nearly as bad as mine.

Was TMO BB support able to tell you about any known outages in your area......if your husband is having the same problem I would SUSPECT......suspect ....suspect network......but I would do a bit more investigating.....do you experience this same issue in other areas...are other tmobile nation subs having problems

How long have you had your sim card? I had similar issues. Went thru 3 Curve's and then one tech said to try a new sim and whammo, no problem since. They should give you one for free. Just go into a TMo store and tell them your issue and tell them you need a new free sim.

My phone quit working completely on towers without assistance, his is only painfully slow at pulling data. T-Mo did not say there were any problems reported on our network, and infact just seemed puzzled. Resent my service books twice and deemed there was little they could do. I've had the SIMs since we purchased the phones somewhere about March - BUT, like larrygump said, I'm a little skeptical that two SIMs would die or degrade together like that.

I'm going to try and wipe the phone down, reinstall the OS and see if that fixes it. I've had this version of 5.0 since it was leaked, and this is the only problem I've had with it, but since it's a Beta, it wouldn't be unheard of to have a late acting problem.

My phone was doing the same thing, they couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting signal anywhere. They checked to see if there were maintenance issues in my area, there wasn't any going on near me. They went ahead and sent me a new phone, and haven't had problems with this phone. It was something to do with the phone itself, not the service or tmobile.

I had similar problems too. I was getting great signal. I even checked it with an application called Signal Location Utilities. I was on the phone with Customer Care and we tried everything (service books, re-registering, battery pulls, etc.).

I put in a new SIM card and haven't had a problem since. The new SIM card did the trick!
