Default Other Advanced UMA Capable Phones?

Sometimes I think I would like to get a backup T-Mo phone. I really need one that is UMA capable but it seems that the only decent UMA phones T-Mo has are Blackberries. Does anyone out there know of ANY plan by T-Mo to come out with a high end phone (besides BB) that has UMA?

If you go to their web-site and do a search/filter on "WiFi Calling", it'll generate a list of BBs, as well as some lower end Nokias, Samsung...I think Sony is listed there as well.

I did that and as I stated, other than the BB's, all the other UMA phones are crappy unless you're ok with the Shadow. That phone however is getting a little old in the tooth as they say.

You could easily go online and pick up a cheap Pearl or Curve. Those have wifi calling. Just make sure it's tmo branded!

One word, darling - CRAIGSLIST.

XD

You can generally pick up a cheap backup Pearl for $60. It might not be in immaculate condition, but that's why it's your backup phone anyway.

I'm not getting the sense that you people are listening. I don't want ANOTHER BB as my backup. I want a different kind of phone, preferably a high end type. Where are those? And NO, I'm not intrested in an unlocked phone either.

I didn't realize that you didn't want a non-BB UMA phone. Your post made it sound like you were concerned about price, as the Blackberries are the more pricier phones that T-Mobile has.

If you don't like the non-BB UMA handsets available, I don't know what you're going to do then. It's not like you can unlock your own and get it to work with UMA.

I'm not sure why you got the idea I thought BBs were to expensive. I didn't mention cost/money anywhere. My comment by the way was that there were no HIGH end UMA phones besides Blackberries, thus insinuating that that was what I wanted not the lower end. I don't care about the cost, just finding a non-BB UMA phone (I have a BB already, just wanted something else) that was of excellent quality.

Like I said, it was just how I read it. The "I don't want another BB because I already have one" didn't come to mind because there are many here who have multiple BBs without trouble. Just sayin'.

I know it's a BB but if you want, you can get a BB Flip. It's a VERY different feel from a BB and really doesn't feel/look like one at all...but you still get the push email. The UMA is pretty good on it I've heard.

You already said that many of the UMA phones on their site are crappy so your options are pretty scarce as it is...

LOL I undestand your pain because I;m always thinking I wish they would come out with a NON BB that was UMA and nice.

I'm also going to have to admit that while its super old The Katalyst is AWESOME on reception if you only are worried about great connection and UMA. I got one when UMA first came ou and NON of the others including BB can TOUCH the great reception it gets. To bad the cheesy chrome peels off.

I keep hoping for a full keyboard slide with UMA and great reception and no dropped calls

The T-Mobile Shadow is the ONLY "high end phone" currently "that has UMA" over Wi-Fi "besides BlackBerry".
