Um, this happened quite a while ago actually, it was on the site the morning of Jul 17, 2009, the same day I downgraded from the unofficial .250 release that ate my battery like it was it's job!

4.6.1.231 Is a ROCK SOLID build!

Yeah, Tmo posted a tweet about it, I went to retrieve the OTA upgrade and there was nothing available. I've had this OS version since I got my 8900 a month ago. Like Brian said, though, it's solid. Good OS.

Hmm...mine was running on .114 so I updated to .231 and now my BB is running incredibly slow? WTF.

That had nothing to do with the OS.

It was likely something else or some other program that was running wild in the background. Wiping your device with the OS change then corrected the issue.

I've used .250 for a couple of months and am amazed how solid it is.

Personally, I think the differences between .231 and .250 are so insignificant as to not be worth discussion.

I guess the FOUR 8900's that I had running on a barebones install of .250 must of ALL had some OTHER issue, rather than the O/S that was on it...

ALL FOUR had no battery life issues on .114, ALL FOUR DID have battery life issues on .250 and ALL FOUR now have NO battery life issues running .231.

Just FYI, I may be a "noob" to this forum, but I'm NOT a noob to BlackBerrys and technology in general.

As for your last comment, if "the differences between .231 and .250 are so insignificant", why anyone would choose to run an unofficial, unsupported release rather than a rock solid official and supported release is beyond me.

No one here can diagnose problems in a chat room. But yes it sounds clearly like you did something wrong installing .250.

Now your credibilty is suffering. The battery life issues on .114 are well documented. AND if .114 was so stable, why would you have had any need to upgrade at all? Hmmmm? Pretty fishy.

Cool, stick with .231.

The hyperbole and combativeness really don't do much to advance serious discussion with you.

.250 is certainly not "unofficial or unsupported" and your comments in that regard just show a lack of knowledge and that you need to do more research. .250 might not be official or supported by your carrier but that does not mean that there is anything wrong with it. Several large carriers have indeed adopted .250 as their OS of choice. Before you go running off again like that, please get your facts straight.

T-Mobile was installing and selling .114 long after AT&T started installing and selling .231. By your logic, something must then have been wrong with .231.

If you are the technology guru you claim to be, you know that carriers sanction OSs when they get around to it, not necessarily when it's in the best interests of their customers.

Why do I have .250 and not .231? After I got my 8900, the battery life issues with .114 were killing me. I couldn't get through a day with mild to moderate use. I needed to do something. Both .231 and .250 were available and neither had been endorsed at that time by any carrier (T-Mobile or AT&T) in the USA. Doing my research (something you need to learn to do more of), I found that people were having excellent results with .250 and that .250 had just been sanctioned by 3 carriers. Based on the fact that .250 was the MOST CURRENT upgrade, I choose it. Given the choice between two unsanctioned OSs, why would anyone choose an older version if both are reported to be good code?

Since upgrading to .250, I have had no problems and find it to be an excellent OS with great stabilty. Shortly after my upgrade to .250, AT&T released their 8900 with the .231 OS and then weeks later T-Mobile followed AT&T and also endorsed .231.

I'm glad you think .231 is rock solid. Good news. I really don't see anything dramatic between .231 and .250 so as long as .231 is working for you, stick with it.

But there is no need to attack others particularly when your own research is not as complete as you might want it to be.

I don't have the free time to write novels as you do, so here you go.

You are right, I am wrong.

You know more than me, I know nothing.

Your Blackberry knowledge is greater than mine.

Your OS build is better than mine.

Your phone is better than mine.

Your credibility is greater than mine.

Bah, screw it, have fun...

It's really not a very exciting thread principally because there really aren't that many differences between .231 and .250.
