Default Not getting 3G - Curious Why

I'm considering switching to AT&T or another carrier due to the really bad performance of T-Mobile in my area.

I currently have the 8320 BB Curve and have had it for over a year. My T-Mobile bill is roughly $102 a month and I'm currently a T-Mobile Flex Pay customer.

I have a habit of seeing a phone I like and wanting it so being on a contract puts limits on my "must have" attitude so I've been avoiding getting a contract with any companies.

In the past year I've read up on 3g and I always thought T-Mobile did not offer 3g for Blackberry users. Am I mistaken?

I really do not want to jump onto a contract, but I'm thinking it's the only option if I want the phones I want on a plan that is as reliable as I need.

You don't have a 3G phone, therefore you will not be able to get a 3G signal.

The newest Blackberry is the 9700. It's the new Bold and is the first 3G Blackberry on T-Mobile.

Do you have 3G in your area as well? You'll need that and the Bold to have 3G on a Berry.

If you are moving to a 3G capable phone, you may want to jump on one of the new rate plans to alleviate the $102/month bill asuming that bills is for a single line of service.

Now that makes sense.

So I should get the Bold 9700 from T-Mobile to get 3g?

The $102 a month bill isn't to bad considering I am on Unlimited Data Plan .. Unlimited Messaging and I think it's around 600 min Minutes w/ MyFavs

To me that's not bad, but then again this is my first Blackberry and I've had it for little over a year.

I read how people get other phones that aren't offered by T-Mobile and use those, however, being someone who isn't too knowledgeable about the subject I'll probably just grab a Bold as it seems easier and it's supported by T-Mobile

and I looked to see the coverage

the 3g is around the area of where I work which is beneficial, but it looks like 3g offered by T-Mobile is found at all where I live. It seems really thin in Indiana when it comes to 3g

Give the 9700 a try. It is the nicest BlackBerry I've used in awhile. You may also need a newer SIM card depending on how long you've had that one.

And being that you are on a single plan with 600 minutes, I'd have to calculate out how many minutes you burn through in the MyFaves. They offer (no contract) $59.99/mo for unlimited data/messages and 500 minutes, $69.99 bumps up to 1000 minutes, or $79.99 unlimited everything. That will possibly reduce your monthly bill.

True, here are the plans he's referring to Unsupported Browser

You have to pay "full retail" for the phone but you will save a lot of money in the long run.

wow thank you

i just saved $40 dollars by switching services

thank you a lot!

I wasn't using as many of the MyFav minutes as I had thought so I just switched the package and saved some $.

with the money being saved it'll justify getting the Bold
