| | No data plan, unlimited access....
hey all.
not that im complaining but for the passed couple months, i am able to browse the web, gmail, apps, facebook, maps, everything, but I do not have a data plan. I have had the feature enabler on my account forever and recently changed my tcp settings. Why is this? Will I be charged? I'm kinda confused and have always had the web, but recently, everythings unlocked and im able to enjoy it sans $20.
any ideas? t-mobile doesnt charge per MB do they? because on my bill, it shows MB usage, and always $0. |

That is strange. And you're correct, T-Mobile (unlike other companies like Verizon) do NOT charge by the MB. You either have data or you don't.
Sounds like the feature enabler/TCP settings are what is causing this. Lucky you!

Larry, i agree with you!
i was simply stating the situation as it is. IM NOT PAYING FOR IT PERIOD. Thats a given, but I cannot change it, so what's next? ditch the blackberry? thats foolish.

I'm surprised that the free data hasn't stopped yet. You said it's been happening for a few months? I could see it being free for a month...in some areas, T-Mobile may give you a "trial" for a month but that's it.
I really have no explanation for what you have now.
When did you get the feature enabler?
What are your APN (TCP) settings?

Ive had the feature enabler on what seems like FOREVER. I never take it off.
these settings NEVER worked on wap.voicestream.com nor internet2. I could only browse the web free on these 2, never 3rd party apps, gmail, opera e.t.c....
but when powered up my pearl again, from my samsung, i noticed its now the epc.tmobile.com tcp setting. and now it seems i can do w/e a data plan user can, just without any headache. i was facebookin' it up all day today.

I wish I knew more about this "feature enabler" I keep reading about, seems it's the gateway to free stuff.
I have set SEVERAL different BlackBerry APN's to epc.tmobile.com that had no data plan and it's only good for Wi-Fi browsing with the HotSpot Browser setting, no Gtalk, no Facebook, no AppWorld ect...
This APN is no new "secret" at all, it's been in place for quite some time now.
I call shenanigans!

Your getting very lucky.. I work for t-mobile and the feature your referring to
enabler has been grandfathered. It was allowing people to access the web when they shouldn't have been getting it.. So Enjoy it while it last but this change has happened in the last few months and it will not work soon. don't worry about getting charged

Well since you work for them, tell my I have had NO SUCCESS getting my wi-fi to connect on my pearl. I've tried everything, and the wi-fi logo never illuminates....
Oh, and you can still get the feature enabler, my cousin called yesterday and added it, just took a few CSR's and she got lucky.
But her browser says UPCELL or something, and asks for a subscription, while mine does not. Weird I tell yea!

It sounds to me like you might have T-Zones grandfathered together with the BB feature enabler.
