No data plan but on EDGE/3g?

I recently received an unlocked blackberry bold 9000 from friend who got it from craigslist. Put in my tmobile sim card and saw that it was on EDGE and then switches to 3g. What I'm wondering is, will I get charged for this?

Go into options and turn Data off... that will ensure the you wont get charged.

Also has it gone back to EDGE or 3G?

edge and 3g= no BIS connection.

I was thinking maybe it had the service books, then lost them once the sim was in.

Check your service books, and delete all of them

it switched between EDGE and 3G. turned off data and deleted all the service books and now its just edge.
