Default Need options

Got a blackberry 8120 that the 2,5,8 and 0 keys don't work, rendering the phone basically useless for text and dialing. I want to get a new blackberry, especially since t-mo has good deals for new customers right now. I would love to get the 8900 (had it for two weeks before I decided to lower my costs.. LOVED it) or even the Curve below that (8320, I think?). Normally I would just pay the $90 for insurance to replace my pearl, but I really want a full qwerty and tmo is selling the 8320 for less than $90 for new customers. Any tips on gettnig t-mo to let me get the $75 price point or the $149 for the 8900? Thanks in advance.

Are you under contract? When does it expire?

Call them and ask them. If you don't get an answer you like, talk to someone else...

I'd recommend the 8900, the 8320 needs a little more horsepower...

How long have you been with T-Mo? If you have been with them for a while they may cut you a deal on the 8900. I've seen other threads where people have gotten it for only $145 for being with them for a long period of time.

The only way you are going to find out if you can get a deal is to call T-Mo and speak with them.

OR

You could go to one of those third party cell phone dealers and purchase one through there, however you will have to extend your contract. Wirefly has a sale going on right now and the 8900 is only $79.99 for existing customers with a contract extension. Amazon normally has deals on them too.

With those sites you really need to read the fine print though. Check what you are agreeing to and if warranties and insurance are still offered as well.

RadioShack.com has the 8900 for $79 with a contract extension for T-mobile.
I have no positive or negative comments to say about them so use this information as just that.

If that is all that is wrong with the device, you can do a warranty exchange for free. Make sure there is no physical damage that may have caused those issues and make sure the phone wasn't water damaged. If not, then call customer care and tell them you want to warranty exchange the device. If you are past your 1 year mfg warranty, the insurance bundle (if you have the 5.99 PHP bundle) will extend the mfg warranty for the life time duration of the device.

I've been with T-Mo for a year. Wish it were longer. If I go with the deal on wirefly, does t-mo allow 3 year contracts? I know when I worked for an authorized agent for T-Mobile, we couldn't do an upgrade with any kind of really good discount if they weren't elegible by T-Mobile's standards. Are there any pitfalls with doing an upgrade with Wirefly or Radio Shack that anyone knows about? And thanks for all the info, I really appreciate it. Also, my Pearl has pretty extensive water damage, and I was less than bright about it and threw my sim into a backup before I even considered making a claim. I was just sick of the pearl, to be honest and didn't want another one. Now I'm finally tired of my backup phone and really want to go back to a BB.

Wealp, wirefly is out. Need to complete the full 2 years with tmo before I can get their prices. Looks like my only option is the rentention department.

I founf a deal on Amazon for the 8900 for $0.01 with new contract. I printed it out and asked the T-Mo store rep if they could match it. They actually gave me the 8900 for free.

Even with the option to Renew/Upgrade? (Link on left side of page) I was looking at that but for Family Plans they require you to upgrade both phones and I know my fiance isn't ready to upgrade from his G1 just yet.

That is for new customers only. Amazon does not upgrade any service except for AT&T, I found this out after posting what I did above by going to their site and reading about it. And it doesn't extend your contract from the date you bought the phone, it extends it starting the day after your current contract expires.
