Default Need Help...Storm VS Curve

First off I meant 8900 ...sorry

I'm getting a new Freebie 8900 and just was wondering about the true differences and likes and dislikes between them before I give one of the phones up.

can anyone tell me some basic reviews comparing the two for things such as problems or maybe things I would encounter to make one better or worse then the other? I don't really mean the different apps one might carry but actual useful info such as browser issues or speed or things like that.

ALSO I was assured i cold keep my BIS plan ( the $19.99 one) and would not be charge anything extra(like if you get the G1). Is this true?

You must be new as the storm has been discussed to death in its subforum, and has the 8900. To simplify, a storm really only works half decent with verizon, even worse on another carrier. The 8900 is a great device! Wifi, uma, massive internal memory, 3.2mp camera, great browser speed with OS updates, great screen resolution. Simply put, don't get a storm, unless you wait for the Storm 2 which is due in sept. And yes, you CAN keep your 19.99 BIS

8900 is an awesome phone but works like a POS on TMO.

Click on my user ID and 'view all posts'.

Good luck!

I've read a lot about Storms on TMO, and I've heard unless you are tech savvy a lot of the features won't work, and the internet will be slower than the 8900, due to the storms 2 ports for EDGE vs. The 8900's 8

Ok I think you guys misunderstand. i originally wrote STORM and meant 8900. i am not getting a storm or even talking about a storm. i just am wanting to know how the 8900 stacks up against the curve and any bad issues I might want to be aware of.

LOL... I got one from the NICEST TMO agent for some problems I was having with my curve. She was awesome and just offered right to me. I told her a replacement curve would be fine and she said no problem take the 8900. Gotta love her for being so sweet. To bad i have NO IDEA what the 8900 can do....HAHAHAHAHAHA

Gotta love TMO

thanks

Both the 89xx and 83xx are a Curve, so that's confusing =P

Well the storm is working great on EDGE after a lot of hard work and playing around I had help from:

HowTo:Get All Features on an unlocked Storm

I then updated to the newest OS and had issues with EDGE going to edge (means no data services available) I then searched the forums and found how to use the radio file from a previous OS in a newer version and now I have a fully functional Storm on TMO EDGE.

No comparison! I have had both and I like the 8900 WAY better!! I just got sick of the storm not performing when I needed it to.... After all that is what a cell phone is for!!

Thanks for the post. Did you find the unlocked Storm on eBay?

I've had no probs w/my 8900 & I'm on T-Mo, too. I tested the Storm out prior to getting my 8900 and wasn't that impressed. I mean, it looks really cool, sure...but I need more than just a toy. It was a major pain in the a$$ to type out a full message on the screen. The springs were okay, but I think it'd be majorly annoying trying to message as much as I do on a Storm.

There are just some things you need a keyboard for...at least til these phones go telepathic. lol

Speed's been great on my 8900. I run WiFi all the time, so I can do everything I want/need while I'm on calls or not. I don't even miss 3G like I thought I would. All in all, it's a really great package.
