need help, from dumb phone to berry

my mom has a non-berry w/ a data plan on tmobile, the phone died and she switched to an old berry while she tries getting her phone fixed. How does it work re: the data plan? the non-berry plan is cheaper.. will it not work at all? This is just a temp switch.

The data plan she had for old phone was $10 and is specifically for "phone first devices" the blackberry requires a specific blackbery smartphone data plan to take advantage of all the capabilities of the blackberry itself. That being said...if she didnt care about or could do with out data until her phone is "fixed"..she could just leave as is...curious as to the problem with her phone and how she is hoping to get it fixed?
