Default in need of a dumbphone

My mom wants a new phone, has a flip samsung, she gets only edge and has no signal.

What 3G phones out now, don't require you to get a data plan? I wouldn't mind buying off the market place, or even ebay.

We are on ATT, but considering getting a tmobile phone, and then just unlocking it. If I did that, I wouldn't need to have a data plan for that phone, would I?

Do you know any friends or relatives on T-Mobile where you live? Its very important
to know if there is good reception in your area! You can buy a prepaid T-Mobile phone
with a $30 monthly refill card if 1500 Talk and text minutes is enough for Mom.

No.

I don't want a prepaid phone.

We have had a contract with ATT for 7 years, and I would just take the phone and unlock it back onto ATT

I just want a decent tmobile phone

Well any T-Mobile phone you get will not have 3G service on AT&T cause the 3G bands are different. You might have to get an AT&T phone or another carriers phone that is compatible.

The phones without contract are called prepaid phones. Go look at them at Walmart,
or Target. There are AT&T phones that you can buy for around $60-80, and you
won't even need to unlock anything... but don't believe me. haha.

Yes you can buy any tmo phone from say a third party and unlock it and you won't need a contract from TMO to have it work if it's unlocked running on ATT.But if I am not mistaken you will only get an EDGE speed

You will not get 3G on AT&T if you use any T-Mobile phone. T-Mobile uses different frequency bands for 3G. So, if you use an unlocked T-Mobile phone, you will still only get EDGE.

I was using my wife's unlocked AT&T Nokia dumbphone on Tmobile while my BB was being replaced. As a phone it was fine. I could even send Text messages, but I couldn't log onto AIM.

I had one of those prepaid phones come in handy when my niece's phone was stolen because my brother was being mean and saying he wasn't gonna buy her another phone.
