Default My Touch 4G or Vibrant

I'm really thinking of leaving BB... Just bored I guess... I don't know hardly anything about Droid phones. I was hoping to get some insight regarding a MyTouch 4G vs. Samsung Vibrant.

Any opinions either way?

My step-daughter just got the MyTouch 4G and she's loving it. I think it's a pretty well built phone.

Although I'm not too crazy about touchscreens.

Ask yourself these questions:

- Will I use the video chat function?
- How often will I be downloading large files? (Videos, etc)

Personally I think the Vibrant is a better phone unless you specifically want the front camera. The 4G internet on the MyTouch is nice, but there isn't always a noticeable speed boost in the web browsing over the 3G 7.2 mbps. And I think the screen on the Vibrant is much nicer.

Also make sure you will get those speeds...check coverage in your area to insure you will be at least getting 3G. Just because it says it is 3G/4G don't always mean you will get them.

4G of HSPA or whatever they are calling it are not in a lot of areas....eventually will be, but can take a lot of time...

The mt4 has a better cpu which makes scrolling a bit smoother, it has more ram, and i prefer slcd over amoled because things can be very blue in samoled when brightness is not cranked up.

The vibrant has problems with lag and GPS and if you are not going to root it it may not be worth getting the phone now. But the vibrant does have a larger screen.

It is a personal preference, if you can live with the shortcomings of the vibrant, then i'd go ahead and get it because is a fine phone.

I left Blackberry for the MyTouch 4G and it was the best decision I ever made regarding phones lol. The Samsung Vibrant is an awesome phone. My friend just got one and she loves it. I think it comes down to connectivity in my honest opinion. With the MyTouch 4G you'll be a little more future proof when 4G makes its way to your area. If you already have 4G coverage I would definitely go with the MyTouch 4G. T-Mobile's coverage maps are somewhat difficult to read so I would call and ask if 4G is in your area. Another major plus for me is that the MyTouch 4G has HTC Sense which I am a big fan of. The UI on the MyTouch is very intuitive and easy to use and setup. The web browser is amazing and even with EDGE speeds its pretty fast. I would go to a T-Mobile store and play with both for a good 20 minutes.

Best of Luck!!!

I switched from a 9700 to a MT4G about 2 months ago. I had extensive experience with a vibrant before choosing the MT4G. I wasn't going to switch to android when the vibrant was the phone to have. The screen is nice but it felt like a cheap phone (real light). Lag issues were horrible on the 1st models and it is a samsung phone. I can stand samsung devices. In the past month I have warmed to android I still miss my bb but have learned to accept android. The hardware has never once dissapointed me. It is real fast, even though I don't even have 3G around here, and I dont even know what 4G is.

I am in the middle of the corn fields of MN, TMO believes it is only farmers around here so no need for fast data. But this phone is real nice. The screen is excellent, has wifi calling which I dont think the vibrant does yet (I could be wrong though). I like the real buttons at the bottom instead of the touch buttons on the vibrant. I have never used the front facing camera and probably never will. It has a track pad that come in handy at times. Comes with swype which is also real nice to have. Battey life is excellent too, it took 2 weeks to kind of break in but I can get a day and 1/2 with good solid use from it.

I've used both (MT4G and Vibrant) and the MT4G is faster, but the Vibrant has a better screen and seemed more user friendly. In the end I think Samsung makes a better phone. IMHO.....

One thing I like about the MT4 is the WiFi calling capability, and they promise you can use that overseas... that's the main reason I'm planning to get the MT4 this month. I love my old BB curve, and I think I always will.

I just used the wifi calling feature on my MT4G from the dominican republic a couple of weeks ago. Worked like a charm no charges for the call either.
