Default My experience with the T-Mo int'l email plan

I went to Canada for the day yesterday. Since I spent the day at an amusement park with really long lines, I thought it would be a good idea to bring my BB to pass the time. I added the 19.99 email plan and decided to see if I'd be charged for data and I would report back, as many have said that they have or haven't been charged.

I emailed frequently and used BBM, SocialScope, GPS when we got lost trying to find the amusement park, and read the news via the WJS app. I just looked at my data now and I was charged for the usage that wasn't email. Of course, it was very light and I was only charged 10.61 so I'm not complaining. It was sort of an "experiment" I was doing anyway, lol.

I just wanted to let everyone know what happened. It seems that T-Mobile has finally realized how to determine what is email data versus what is not. Be careful so you don't get a huge charge! Getting hit with 10.61 is puny potatoes compared to the bills other people have gotten.

Just thought I'd let people know.

This will be a breaking point between me and T-Mobile. If they had been doing this last summer, I would have racked up close to $2000 in data roaming charges in three months. It's ridiculous they don't have a plan that's competitive with AT&T and Verizon.

T-Mobile has been great with the rest of their pricing and their customer service. I was happy to leave AT&T all those years ago and had no desire to go back. I still don't. But I will if this is the crappy plan they have for international users.

I got hit for over $400 during two months of international usage. I did receive a minor credit because the rep said web based email access would be covered under the plan. It wasn't. It also helps when you turn off the auto update settings on any news or sports apps. $15/Mb is steep.

Seriously, it boggles my mind why t-mobile doesn't have a good international plan in place.
All the other carriers do...t-mobile has everything going for it except for this.
