| | My Asurion experience.
Filed a claim for my Blackberry 9700 (tmobile) on 3/6/10, that I had lost the day before. I too, had to fax an affidavit along w/ my id & proof of purchase being that I got the Blackberry from an in-direct dealer. I was told that after I had faxed everything I would get contacted within 3hrs via phone or email, didn't recieve neither. I figured ok, its the weekend..let me cut these people a break. I call back Monday (3/8/10)and got asked if I had already filled out the affidavit and all that good stuff, I replied back "yes, and everything was done properly & in a timely fashion so there shouldn't be no problems with the documents". She put me on hold for about 5-6mins, got me connected to an adjuster that asked me a couple of questions, I got them right. The adjuster asks me what would I like to do..either do the deductible payment over the phone with her or finish it online, I told her I would just go online and finish. She proceeded with the usual "thank you for being part of asurion & tmobile..blah blah". Long story short, I finished my claim..their 'track my claim' link gave me a tracking number that had no info at first, I waited & waited & waited and finally Tuesday (3/9/2010) I got a tracking number around 2:00pm..it stated on the Asurion website(phoneclaim.com) that it should have been delivered by tuesday, but obviously it didn't. Checked the tracking number that was provided @ the asurion website around 8:33pm Tuesday night, and UPS finally got the info. Today (3/10/2010) UPS got here around 12:30pm, I opened the box..and what do you know a brand new Blackberry 9700 made in Canada!
I'm happy with the service I was provided, and it kinda makes sense they sent me a new BB when the one I lost itself was like 3-4 days old. Hopefully this thread sheds some light on users going through the insurance claim process. |

I paid a deductible of $130.00, the monthly insurance premium is $5.99 & I really don't know where it was made, lol..but I've read alot of things about 9700s that are made in Mexico.

They wanted all of this information before they asked you for a CC/ETF? I have a claim that's on hold because I'm not ready to fork over the deductible just yet, and that's the last step.

Yes, but if you ask me..its not alot of information at all.
@9700
Yes, the $130 was of course for the deductible..the phone retails for about $499.99, I don't mind dishing out the $130 for a brand new phone. |

Sounds like they took care of you. That's good. I too have insurance but have never had to use it. I hope I'll get just as good service if I ever need it.

what is 'deductable'?
is it the cost of the claim? or can you deduct it from somewhere or every month you get some of it back or something?

i just went through the same thing, though I did drop my 8900 in the toilet (which i never thought would happen to me)! since t-mobile didn't carry the 8900 anymore, asurion sent me a 9700 instead. |

I just went through the same process with Asurion (I left my phone in a taxi cab yesterday..). Hope the phone will arrive safely to my home tomorrow..

I pay $5.99 a month for insurance. If I lose my phone, I'll have to pay Asurion $130 (deductible) to get a new phone.
Hope that helps.

I just had to use my Asurion insurance. I filed online and they sent me a dinged up 8900 and I complained, guy checked, saw it wasn't offered new anymore and I'm getting a 9700 tomorrow! Nice since DC has 3G and I'll be able to take advantage. Anyone know if just EDGE performance on the 9700 is on par with the 8900?

So you got a "brand new" one that came with a retail box and everything in it? Or just a phone with nothing else?
