Default My 8900 is on its last legs... what are my choices?

Hey all,

I'm currently using a Curve 8900 (with trackball) and its lifespan is nearing its end. I have insurance, but if I trade it in, will they give me the exact same phone? Is the 8900 still produced?

Also I'm due for an upgrade... but do I "waste" my upgrade on the newest Bold (since I don't want the newer Curve with the crappy camera), or should I wait till a better phone is released and use my upgrade on that? What do you guys think?

I would definitely wait to see what comes out. With the Bold, you're getting 3G but that's about it. It still has the same camera and everything. I've had BOTH the 8900 and the Bold and while I think the Bold is better in many ways, it is older now and we are due to see newer models come out so I would wait and see.

Thanks, but what I meant is, I need SOMETHING this week, because my current BB literally cannot be used for another week.

Have you considered other options, like Android?

Your best options now are the Bold 9700, or the Curve 3G.
Bold 9700 is best, but the choice is yours!

Well when the latest and greatest is released, I'd like to use my due upgrade on that... so for now I guess I want the newest Bold, but I don't want to pay $300+ for it when I feel like it's basically already old. If I use my insurance... will they just send me another 8900?

I would deff use the insurance to replace the 8900, I do not think the the 8900 is available any more but that's not to say they don't have a fresh referb on the shelf ready to go.... But definitely don't wast you upgrade on the 9700 at least wait for the 9780 which I'm pretty sure will be the next best bb t-mo gets. The way the insurance works is they have the option to replace your phone with an equal model if yours is no longer available, so you might end up with a curve 3g??? I would call c/s and ask what they will give you. Keep us updated cause I'm curious as to what they are going to give you.

What they just said^^^^

I still love my 9700 and have used Andriods, iPhones and other berries and still prefer my 9700, but really with the 9780 right around the corner, I would wait for that.

If really want to try to use your insurance do so and get another 8900 and if you have a couple hundred smacks lying around, you could always ebay a used phone in good shape for a change of pace....some 9700's go for 250 and under, or could try another platform and unlock the phone. Then when the new 9780 comes up have some leverage. Can keep one phone as a back up and sell one or keep both or sell both and just whim it with new one as I am sure you will get insurance on it.

You have a ton of options! I am sure I just confused the **** out of ya, lol!
