Smile Moving to america

Hello! I live in the UK but am moving to america for a few months. I have a blackberry curve, and would like to use it in america...

I am with tmobile, and would happily get a tmobile sim card in the USA, but am wondering if it would work?

My concerns are that the sim card is different or something, also if my phone is already registered to the uK, also whether I can use blackberry services on Pay as you go in the USA?

Ideally id like to just stick another sim card in it and have it work... am i delusional?

First which model Curve do you have? Although the information I'm about to give you doesn't care which phone you have, there may be some special considerations for your specific phone that might impact your decision.

What you need to do is get yout phone unlocked. If you have hade the phone for a couple of years, T-mo UK will probably give you an unlock code, call their customer service and ask them. If they won't there are several vendors here on crackberry.com that will give oyu one for a small fee. Once you do that the phone will be able to operate with a Sim card from T-mo US or AT&T (who are in the process of purchasing T-mo US).

Having said all that you might want to consider just signing up for service with one of the US carriers, as a "new" customer you will be able to get a brand new handset at a substantial discount.

Also check to see which carriers have the best coverage where you are moving to, that could make a difference in your choice of carriers

It will work - but not on 3G since TM U.S. uses diff. freq. You will get EDGE. As above post said, just get it unlocked and see what TM U.S. has in the way of a pre-paid account you can get. You can go to their web site or call them at +15059983793. Post paid accounts require contracts and U.S. credit checking.
