Cool Loyalty phone upgrades: BOGO! *applause*

Wife and I have been off contract for a year, waiting for a touchscreen BB to come to T-Mo. Today I called the Loyalty department over at T-Mo to upgrade the phones on my account. Apparently they're having a Buy One, Get One Free sale for phone upgrades (I didn't ask for how long).

Called 611 from my BB and told the phonebot, "Loyalty". A very pleasant rep came on the line. I explained that I had been off-contract for a year and wanted to upgrade the phones on my account. She said, "Well you picked a great time to call in, we're having a buy one, get one free sale!" I had no idea; the website wasn't offering any kind of deals.

So the hubermania household has two 9810's on the way! If you want to keep your existing plan and services, be sure to tell them that up front. Also, I got the order confirmation for the 2nd BB about 12hrs after the 1st. Called back and they said this is normal, they use some sort of manager approval process to order the 2nd BB after the 1st one hits shipping.

Do you think this is in-store also? Or is it something on the phone and only if you ask for the Loyalty dep? I wonder if its something because of this time of the year. Did you have to buy the first phone right away, as in, pay the full price right away, or will it work with installments too?

Thanks.

The loyalty department has the most flexibility in negotiating, so I'm inclined to say the BOGO is only by calling in to them. I didn't see BOGO mentioned on the website or on the web anywhere. You could try in-store but IMHO you're much less likelu to be able to keep a grandfathered plan.

The agent billed both phones to my credit card up front, then credited the cost of one phone and, thankfully, both mail-in rebates back to my account. The net result is next month's bill be reduced by the cost of one new phoneand both MIR. Naturally my account is in good standing and has always been paid on time.
