| | is this legal on tmobiles part?
Hi all,
I am on 3 line family plan, 1 line is still on contract, 2nd line is about to expire end of this month, and 3rd line is expired.
My sister's line is expired so she wanted to upgrade her phone. she wanted the Galaxy S 2 phone so she would have to add a extra 2 years to her line(of course). we were on their old family plan and tmobile rep said that we would also have to upgrade to the newer family plan if she wanted to upgrade to the new phone and she said okay, ONLY to realize when she went INSTORE to pickup her new phone that ALL THREE lines gotten upgrade the 2-years, so I'm WTF!, because i'm on the 2nd line where i wanted to upgrade for a new bold9900, and now that the retard REP upgrade all 3 lines and so she called back in like 30minutes and they said to her that they cannot downgrade her plan back to the old one.
my patients on waiting for my contract to end to get the 9900 is not going to happen. its funny when 9700 came out and i upgrade and ONLY MY LINE got upgrade so wtf, they upgrade all lines now?
i tried the business breau so i'm waiting on their response,
just want to know if their allow to do that? because i want to take action to take off the 2-years off the other two lines. i dont think i can wait another two years for the 9900. nor do i want to pay full price. lol

Your problem does not sound right. Call CS 'retentions' to get this cleared up.
Only the line being upgraded is subject to the contract restriction, not the other lines.

I have an EM+ plan, and I asked in the store if I have to get the NEW plans to get a NEW phone, and they said yes (as I suspected). And you wouldn't have gotten your new phone discounted anyways, since ALL new upgrades and/or activation(s) have to be on the new plans. And btw, because you basically buy your phone in full now, you can get the phone you want anytime, and they will just extend your contract on the specific line.
It is not illegal because they are explaining to you what their NEW contract policies are, and you either accept or not, and since your OLD contract is expired, you can't do much other than keep it as is. Quote:

@ captain,
This is not the first time that I was asked to upgrade to a newer plan, i was on a older plan before and upgraded to a new plan at the time and there were no extension of contract until this time. I guess there isn't really anything I could do until this contract is up so **** tmobile and I'm going to move on to another carrier after this, I mean like I been with tmobile like forever and this is what I have to deal with.

If ur sister agreed to the contract, then its a wrap. Being under contract doesn't affect ur upgrade terms tho. That line that is almost out of contract can still upgrade.

Now, you buy the phone in full, so there is no "upgrade", you can get a new handset anytime, as long as you pay for it. Get it? That is why they moved ALL of you to the new plans. If you check this T-Mobile forum, I posted a while back this thread: T-Mobile's Business Strategy... Your thoughts...
And I agree that T-Mobile isn't worth it AS much as it used to. Quote:

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | Now he has no more lines that are almost out of contract, at least I don't think so from what he said also and for how it works. This is because there is no real "upgrade" anymore with T-Mobile, but you just extend your contract with them and have to buy the phones in full.

Captain what are you talking about? They still offer subsidized phones when you upgrade to a 2 year contract. With the ATT buyout looming they're desperate to get us EMP-ers on a 2 year contract. I've caught reps in lies, too. A rep told me to move to one of their value plans that would end up being cheaper than I'm paying now. He said I'd get unlimited data and I called him on that BS because I know I'm getting 5gb before throttle and on the value plan you only get 2gb before throttle. I walked out of there with my new Amaze and zero changes to my plan.

OP: was the original contract in your sister's name, or was she even an authorized user capable of making changes to the entire account? If the answer to both questions is NO, you may have an argument.

@ raino,
Yes its her account and i am authorize to make changes too, the problem is, we upgraded our phones/plans many times and all those times it was only the intended line receive the extension of contract. the problem is when the rep said in order to receive the upgrade to the new phone, our old plan also needs to be upgraded, there was NO MENTION about anything! on extension of the other lines.
if that was known, she would NOT upgraded

hmmm...
it seem that i gotten a callback from someone from Tmobile due to the complaint that i put in and i'm going to call them back tomorrow and see how this goes, whether or not they downgrade my plan back to how it was before and no extension of contract, if that is the case, i will happily go to another carrier. if not then... i'll have no choice but to stick it out with them and switch later on.
apparentlly the voicemail i got them from was that, she agree to the upgrade but hopefully i can build a defense and get out of the contract one way or another and be done with tmobile.

Can she return the phone and go back to the original terms? She should have 14 days to do so.

the returned call, the guy kept saying she agree to contract and contract that.
let me ask all you guys, in order to upgrade to a new phone and told that, to do so you would have to upgrade to their "newer" plan, Do they or do they NOT have to let you know that the other lines will be effect as well?
