Default leaving att, what phone to get?

Long time user of AT&T. I am leaving, only because their prices are ridiculous. Not sure if I want to go T-Mobile or Verizon, so Im posting in both for feedback. Most of my friends are on verizon. I have a blackberry 8320, (sold this morning), and I love the wifi capability, i like the internet. I think I want to step out of the blackberry world and get something comparable or better.

I would like something a little faster on the net, simpler and better internet viewing or usage. Tethering would be great. Qwerty is good but not required.

Throw some suggestions at me, and let me know about plans also! Thanks!

Are you implying you dont recommend tmobile? the main reason I dont like Verizon is because they make you get a blackberry plan. Also, tethering is extra, i do believe.

Whats a blackberry without a data plan, also tethering is always extra, you might get away with not paying for a month or two but when they see all the data overages, they'll know

What are your objectives? Visit Best Buy Mobile and play 20 questions and they will help you decide. Love my BB Storm and VZW but that's me. I've had Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, BB, Palm Treo, and some piece of effluvium Ericsson. In my present use of technology..Storm is the choice.

Tethering is included with a blackberry plan from t-mobile unlike AT&T or Verizon, its extra on top of the plan. So you're slightly incorrect.

Data plans are different from Blackberry plans. I have ATT with a blackberry right now, without a blackberry plan, but I do have a data plan, and it works 95% the same. There is a price difference!

Verizon requires a BLACKBERRY plan, ATT and T-Mobile do not.

My friend has a G1 and it's pretty sweet. I would never leave BB for it though... I've become a BB fanboy over the past couple years.

If you use a lot of Google products, I would definitely recommend the G1.

The only thing that I see bad about the G1 in comparison to the Shadow, it does not have wifi, or windows (which doesnt matter to me).

The google apps would be available through the net on the shadow, wouldnt they?

I'm pretty sure you can get them, I know that Google supports WinMo.

For me, I like the G1 better because it has full keyboard and a trackball...the shadow has suretype or whatever, similar to the Pearl. I never really liked using that, which is why I ended up getting a Curve.
Plus, I think the Shadow is kind of ugly. The white G1 is pretty lol.

Please don't listen to SouthJersy786. for some reason he/she is having a vendetta out against T-mobile.

couple of options Since ATT and T-Mobile are both GSM carriers you can unlock your ATT phone and use it on T-Mobile if you want.

1) the g-1 requires you to have a data package. you cannot use this phone with out it.

2) the Blackberry 81xx or 82xx series are great beginner "Smartphone".

3) The shadow one is a great WM device but - it has no way to turn off the SMS ringer once it has begun. Point being if you pick Hotel California and you look at the message and close the phone back down it'll keep playing HC till it's done with the song.

4) the behold is a nice not quite smart phone and not quite stupid phone. but the touch screen is really touchy.
