| | Just want to vent about TMobile
As a 5 year customer I actually find myself looking for another carrier and I hate to do that. Its feels like starting over. I have become so frustrated with my bill I just want to burn it each month. I don't feel it is worth 180.00 a month for 2 8900's with 1000 shared minutes with the BB data plan and unlimited text and yada yada yada. Maybe it sounds cheap, but it seems a rip off when the carrier doesn't have the latest BB's that are worth upgrading too, I can't get the 5.0 OS for our phones and no option for 3G. While I love the idea of being on WiFI, it would still be beneficial to at least have access to the newer networks. Our phones are becoming bricks, I have to battery pull up to twice a day and I am ready to give up on the browser all together. Even Opera Mini has started acting stupid. I love my BB. Always have enjoyed what RIM could offer over the other smartphones, but something has to give. Is the Bold 9800 coming to TMobile or not? What about the Storm 3? I am on the older grandfather plans and would like to see some different options. Sprint offers unlimited talk, text and web for 69.99 a month, but their coverage in my city is really crappy. I want a new BB and I want to see TMobile offer the latest touchscreen BB's. If not, I will have to switch to AT&T. At least they and other carriers offer buy one get one free phones. Oh so frustrated!!!! I even have my home phone service with Tmobile which is supposed to give me a Hot Spot. Not once have I seen the icon appear on my homescreen. Thanks for listening!

T-Mobile isn't going to upgrade everyones phones because they don't have 3G.
What is the Yada Yada you're speaking of? Call customer retention about how high your bill is and they should offer you some options to lower it because you've been with them for 5 years.

See if you can get this deal...
89.99 Unlimited Loyalty (2 lines)
24.99 x 2 - Data for both lines
9.99 Unlimited txt for families
Boom...$150 for 2 lines.
Or you can get the new EM+ plan without a contract for 139 a month, unlimited.
It gets even cheaper if you're just looking for 1000 min or so.
I'd call up Retentions. Dial 611 and say "cancel". They are the best with deals like this! I'm sure with talking to them and some plan switching, you'll be much happier.

Do what the user said above. Also don't switch carriers now, wait till the fall when the new phones come out. Unless of course you switch without a contract..

Tmobile has a loyalty department. I have been with them for about 7 years and called them to tell them I'm considering leaving and next thing you know they brought someone over from the loyalty department and they did whatever it took to get me to stay. Hooked up an awesome deal and didn't even have to update/sign a contract.

| | EFF T-Mobile
I've been with T-Mobile for about 5 years now. And since they implemented 3G into their system their service has went completely down hill. I'm a loyal customer. I have the personal cell phone numbers of my T-Mobile sales reps at the store i've been going to for years. My wife has always had problems with her service (she uses Android phones) and recently my 9700 has been so screwed up I dont know what to say to them. I've spent countless hours on the phone, I've received credits for my bill, I've gotten upgraded phones for free. But none of this matters if I can't BBM some1 or open a damn PDF because my email doesnt work. I call T-Mobile (not exagerating) atleast 3 times a week and complain and have them note the account. They've gotten to the point where they don't even try to trouble shoot, they just tell me theres no issue and they can send me to cancellation if I want. I'm going to stick with them for the time being but as soon as that touch screen slider 9800 comes out I'm going to whoever offers it. I dont care if my bill cost me more per month. Right now my bill is cheap but my service sucks...you get what you paid for I guess. F&$K T-MOBILE!!!!!

Their whole business model is built around "customer service", which honestly I'd much rather have someone yell at me and treat me terribly and have my phone WORK at all times.

My phone works AT ALL TIMES.... so its either your phone, you, or in a bad coverage area. Period. Get a new phone and a new carrier and stop bashing a reputable company just cause you're unhappy.

It's not the phone I've had 3 replacements with the same issue. 2nd. It's not me... what could I possibly be doing that hampers my connection? 3rd. OF COURSE! it's the coverage, and that's what this thread is all about. You seem rather content because your service WORKS. You say that I should stop bashing a "reputable" company just because I am unhappy? That's like saying "why praise a company because you're happy" it's all relative to the issue. I have gone through many phones, tried many troubleshoots, filed many complaints, The fact is the network is terrible (at least where I live.)

Every carrier company will have their problems. A buddy of mines has a different carrier and he get dropped calls and data all the time where his located; his problem is all about his location. If tmo has crappy location service then maybe it is best to find a carrier suitable for your area however if you do change carrier who's to say your problems won't continue with that carrier.

OP, I get you. I'm frustrated with T-Mobile as well because I live in a miserable area (southern Idaho) which apparently doesn't have enough people to warrant any attention / upgrades like the major cities get. We get spotty EDGE, and GPRS / SOS indoors. It bites, and I've vented here before about it previously.
But on the flip side, every time we go visit family in the SLC / central Utah area (where we used to live, and where we originally signed up with T-Mobile), everything is wonderful. 3G with full bars. Great data speeds, excellent reception, little to no dead spots, even inside houses. The difference is night and day.
It's all location-dependent. T-Mobile is a great company with better-than-most customer support and good pricing. Unfortunately there will always be areas like yours and mine that simply suck @ss, ironically either from congestion or neglect. It's frustrating for us, yes, but as others have said here, every carrier will have good and bad locations. We can complain until the cows come home, but unfortunately the rep on the phone is powerless to alter the existing network structure, T-Mobile's upgrade / tower roll-out plans, or physical topography.
That leaves us with a choice. In this area, Verizon has stellar signal and 3G service, even in this tiny 9,000 population town. When my contract is up in a few years, if things haven't improved, I'll switch. It's worth it to me to pay a bit more and get proper service. It does irritate me that I get scant bars and less than dial-up network speed yet pay the same as those with full signal and blazing 3G. I'll probably continue to grumble a bit about it in the meantime, so I totally understand your venting here.
The bottom line is, well... things are how they are. It's up to you to decide if the service you're receiving is worth the price your paying, and if not, what to do about it. You can wait and hope it gets fixed, or break your contract today. I've come to understand the reality is that other than a possible price discount or replacements for physical phone problems, a dozen complaint calls won't change anything. Yelling at a hole in the boat won't fix it. You either decide if you can live with it, or jump ship.

All,
I have been a big fan of T-Mobile since day 1. The customer service has been outstanding. Both my wife & I have BB Bolds and use the @home WiFi for our home. UMA was a little troublesome, but has improved significantly. However, their network is up and down a lot and requires BB reboots as a result.
What was a fantastic 3G network has turned into crap. I've called them and asked if i'm being 'throttled' for which they say no. I am nowhere near any of their data limits, but something is up.
Also, the latest OS for my berry is crap. I should have stayed with the old OS.
I'm looking at making the switch to the iPhone & iPad.

David | They weren't lying. You have no reason to think they're throttling you & they aren't. What data limits do you think they have?

Why are you paying $180 for all that?
You should pay no more than $160 which will give you 1500 shared minutes, unlimited BIS and texts on both lines.
Not to mention corporate discount...
TMO have newer BB's than the 8900, it's the 9700 and that is the newest BB on the market for ANY carrier.
You don't even need the home phone service to use hotspot, any regular wifi browser will do.
Sounds like something's wrong with your phone or you are not doing something right.
I've been with all three (VZW, ATT, TMO) in the span of last nine months. TMO blows the others out of the water, I don't know why I stayed with VZW for all those years.
I am confused everytime someone complains about TMO. The only thing they lack is bad reception at some places but a 9700 takes care of that with wifi.
