Default Just a FYI regarding TMO BIS

Just over a week ago I upgraded from the 9700 to the 9900 and I've been having some problems with having to re-activate my email accounts. I called TMO tech support and they couldn't figure out what the problem was so they connected me to RIM. I spoke with someone yesterday who had me do a few steps and asked me to check it today. Same problem so I called RIM back and after trying a few things it was determined that TMO has made changes to the way we access the BIS.

According to RIM TMO does not want us accessing the BIS from our device, just from their website. So when I was validating the email accounts on myTmobile then accessing them from the device, MESSAGES->OPTIONS->EMAIL ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT it was causing them to become invalid.

Additionally they added a security feature requiring you to enter your BB pin and IMEI number in order to gain access to the BIS. That is a pain.

Security is both good and bad.

EDIT - UPDATE: They only ask for your pin and IMEI if you invalidate your accounts by accessing the BIS from your phone.

Wow, what a PITA. Thanks for the heads-up. I wonder why T-Mobile went this way. Their stupid *** BIS site doesn't even load for me half the time when I'm logged into my.t-mobile.com.

I haven't run into this problem, but thanks for the heads up.

I had some big issues when I went from the 9700 to the 9900 too. At first I blamed the in-store rep, because he ended up cutting off all my services for the 4-5 day gap between when I was in there and the start of my next cycle. It turned out that was only part of the problem.

I eventually got sent through to a RIM rep as well. What turned out to be the big issue was that my BIS account didn't have a password associated to it. Passwords are now required. So apparently the system invalidated my account when it detected that I'd changed devices.

If you've had a BB for several years, I'd advise you go to the BIS site of your carrier and add a password now - so you don't have problems later if you switch devices.

Problem:
they changed the myTM site such that you do not have a BB control panel. I walked through the various options to find the panel with the TM BB rep, and neither of us could find it this week. To do an email upgrade it was only possible to do it from phone BB email setup.

on the myTM site go to mobile life and select email and text tools, that will give you the email settings page
