Okay, so you can't get BB Desktop Manager to recognize your BB, but what about your PC in general? Will it see it?

When you plug your bb into your pc with the usb cable does the toolbar on the bottom right say that the computer is loading device hardware for the BlackBerry?

does it make a sound, or does a little textbox pop up if you want to open the mass storage device?

Have you tested it with a different cable? Or on a different computer?

Sounds like the OP has a charging USB cable, that does not have data. A buddy of mine had such a cable for an old digital camera that he assumed would work for his cell phone to transfer files.

Get an original BlackBerry USB data cable designed to work with your phone. Although the USB cord you have will physically fit the phone, that's no guarantee the cord will function properly. Some devices won't even charge over a non-OEM cable.
