Has anyone had any luck with an Iphone on T-Mobile. Looking to get a 3g or 3gs. Do you actually get 3g or just Edge. Thanks

You won't get 3G, as Tmo and ATT use different spectrum for their 3G networks.

How much difference is 3g than Edge. Is it a huge difference with an Iphone.

Personally for me, I didn't feel it was a huge difference with loading web pages but it was when it came to downloading apps and other things like that (youtube, etc)

Like Artemis said, basic webpages aren't a huge difference. The apps that use internet are painfully slow sometimes though.

I've had multiple iphones on TMO. If you need any help or have questions, don't hesitate to ask

The cool thing about the iPhone though is that you're not required to have a set data plan and you can use one of the cheaper "dumbphone" plans. It's a little more economical. If you're fine with EDGE speed (remember, you can always use wifi when it's around), then the iPhone may be a good choice.

They patched that hole a while back, so smartphone plans were required. It's all moot now though, because all web plans are the same going forward. $10/15/30 data plans for all phones

Ohhh I wasn't aware that they patched it. I used an iPhone for a while on a $5 dumbphone plan. And thanks for correcting me on the web plan. Yeah, looks like you'll have to use the $30 plan now. Ah well.

Yeah, just EDGE, but I get by fine on my 9700 as I generally get EDGE 85% of the time.

Use the wifi on the iPhone to add apps...will go fast.

Huh. I'm still using my $6 T-Zones data plan with my 3G and my wife is on the $10.99 Web2Go. We've had no interruption of data and have not been contacted by TMO to do anything different. I was happy to see the cheaper data plans in case we are forced to upgrade though. The other day I saw something about a promotional $10 data plan for up to 200mb. Plenty for the Mrs. but not enough for my usage. My 3G went tits up a couple days ago and I sold my Bold a couple of months ago so I had to dig into the old phone drawer and came out with a Pearl 8100. Wutta turd. It's still better than the Katalyst that is my next best option.
