Default Internet Dilemma

Alright guys,
So I have the 8900 it's my first Blackberry and I love it! I'v probably gone through 12 phones within the last year before i'v settled on this one. I work for Verizon, but have Tmobile (Don't Ask its the Blackberry). Now I live on my own now and have been looking into getting internet at my home. I'v been tethering off of my Curve and it's OK obviosuly Edge is not the best speed out there.

SO my question is: I know Verizon is releasing the Tour 9630 with 3G and their tethering is usually $60 unless you have a Blackberry plan then it's only $30. Plus my discount it will definitly be cheaper. Problem is: I have three lines with Tmobile I just switched from Sprint last June so i'm not anywhere near my contract at all so canceling service will be pricey.

I went into a Tmobile store and the reps their told me their broandband card on 2G is faster then Verizon/ATT on 3G. (I live in Salt Lake City) so we don't have Tmobile 3G here anyway which is why I purchased the 8900. But I didn't know tethering would be so SLOW.

Anyways, what would you guys do? or suggest? I know getting Comcast or something like that is way more out of my price range I mean I am only a student. So I just need a good solution. Switch when the Tour comes out? or what?

Thanks for your help, any advice would be appriciated.

If you want to dump your contracts, try to get someone to take over a line or two or three. Be creative!

I have struggled with poor tethering performance at work for 11 months at work.

I work on a Tugboat and I decided to try a Cricket Wireless broadband USB stick. I can tell you its a decent option for my purposes. It is CDMA REV A, and there is no contract. So if you don't like it you simply quit paying for it. My service is about $40.55 a month.

My TMO service is about $71.00 a month with a data plan as well. I end up paying much less than most of the guys I work with that have Verizon. But they do have a much more consistent signal than I have.

Just for the record my contract with TMO will expire in about 4-5 months. And I may be moving to VZ unless some big changes occur with the quality of TMO'S service in my area.

I love T-Mobile. WIth that said, Verizon is doing some remarkable things and they are a company to watch.

If I were you, I'd probably call the cable company and see what special programs they offer. A friend of mine has just Internet access at her home and pays something in the $30 range for Internet access.

Another option is to click on your computer's WiFi settings and see if there are any open Internet connections around your house. If not, yet another option might be to approach a neighbor and offer to pay something to access their WiFi router. I've lived in a couple of places where I paid a neighbor $15 bucks a month to access their WiFi router. I'm in California where we call live on top of each other. You may not have access like that where you are in Utah but it might be something to look at.
